Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda is the talk of the area as residents ponder where he got all the money he has started pouring into his constituency as the 2026 election draws near.

Ssemujju is fighting to retain his parliamentary seat which has attracted many suitors.

A number of voters this reporter talked to are claiming that Ssemujju has booked all the advertising billboards in the area and he has started putting on his campaigning posters.

“He has shade the entire Kira Municipality blue, the only changes he has made on his current poster to differ from the one of 2021 where he contested on Forum for Democratic Change ticket is replacing the key symbol with a mobile phone symbol and People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) as his political party. He has also changed the slogan to “Edoboozi lya Kira likomyewo okubawereza” (The voice of Kira has returned to serve you),” one of the voters said.

Another voter wondered where Ssemujju, a legislator on the opposition side gets all the money he is using to pin posters almost everywhere yet when they ask him for assistance, he always tell them that Museveni and his family are the only ones with money and they should go and pick it there while he legislates for them.

Political analysts in the area have told this website that because of the ongoing fights within NUP camp, Ssemujju has high chances of retaining the seat since Kiora Municipality is in an urban area where voters base on issues not gifts and donations from the political candidates.

In the 2021 parliamentary election, Ssemujju and Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago had the most posters and advertising billboards which resulted into accusations from Nathan Nandala Mafabi the Forum for Democratic Change Secretary General that they picking billions of money from President Museveni to help them in their political campaigns.

When contacted, Ssemujju boasted that he has officially started his 2026 plan to retain his constituency, “It’s good that now you have seen the posters. I have started and I can assure you I’m going to defeat all those candidates who are going to contest against me including that George Musisi of the National Unity Platform (NUP) as I did to Jimmy Lukwago in the 2021 parliamentary elections.”

This is the fourth consecutive term that Ssemujju is seeking to represent Kyadondo East and Kira Municipality.

He has already assured his voters that he will retire from parliamentary politics after defeating President Museveni and as long as that goal is not yet fulfilled, he is still around.

It should be noted that when he had just entered politics, Ssemujju, who was a journalist with the Observer newspaper promised his voters that he was going to represent them for only two terms.

This means that he was not supposed to contest in 2021; However, he ask them to add him this ending term and rumours started making rounds that maybe he was going to get a constituency in his home district of Lwengo and leavet Kira Municipality.

However, many voters were shocked to wake up with his posters almost everywhere in Kira Municipality.
