Flamboyant Kampala City Lord Mayor Ronald Balimwezo has bagged a golden medal in the oldies cycling competition.
Balimwezo led the one lap race in the oldies categories in a competition organized by ‘together we can’ cyclists.
The race was flagged off at ring road and they passed through Kampala streets up to Mengo where the winners were awarded land, medals and cash prize in different categories.
19-year old Paul Miiro from Amani club won the 30 laps men’s race beating Ugandan Champion Aziz Sempijja to become a new Ugandan Champion.
Miiro, walked away with one million Shillings as prize money.
Awori Maklin, won a 7 laps women’s race and she was given a cash prize.
While both winners from school categories for boys and girls was given a 100 by 50 feet land title each.
Solomon Ssebakaaki alias Manager Solo, the head of ‘together we can’ cycling club thanked the fans who supported their riders.
Balimwezo told the press after securing a gold medal that he is going to use his position to lobby KCCA leadership to support the cycling game.
In this year’s edition, 60 riders participated in the race.
