Ugandans across the country can now perform instant searches for land titles, check the status of land transactions, and verify parcel details across the country for a search fee of UGX 10,000.
This was diclosed by the State Minister for Lands Dr. Sam Mayanja during the launch of the National Land Information System (NLIS) Online Portal and Mobile Application at the Wakiso Busiro Ministry Zonal Offices where he demonstrated how the portal would function.

Dr. Mayanja expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of Uganda, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for leading the land reform agenda in the country.
He also acknowledged the World Bank’s crucial support in developing the National Land Information System since 2010, which had been successfully rolled out to 22 Ministry Zonal Offices nationwide.
Dr. Mayanja emphasized that the launch of the Online Portal and Mobile Application was a government initiative aligned with Article 41 of the Constitution, which guarantees citizens access to information. The portal was designed to enhance service delivery by providing Ugandans with instant access to land information through technology. He explained that the Public Portal would facilitate ease of doing business in Uganda by making land services more accessible to landowners and users, thereby transforming service delivery in the land sector.
“The portal will allow users to perform instant searches for land titles, check the status of land transactions, and verify parcel details across the country for a search fee of UGX 10,000,” Dr. Mayanja said.
He expressed confidence that this portal would promote transparency, good land governance, and provide immediate responses to citizens’ information needs, benefiting both Ugandans and those living abroad. Registered users would be able to quickly access accurate information on land ownership, encumbrances, and location.
Additionally, he highlighted the portal’s ability to reduce direct interaction with Ministry staff and there would be no more delays in providing land-related information. Dr. Mayanja reassured the public that the Ministry’s Call Centre, established in August 2021, would be available to support anyone facing challenges, and he provided the toll-free number for inquiries.
