Justice and Constitutional affairs minister Norbert Mao has warned National Unity Platform (NUP) youth supporters commonly known as foot soldiers to be very careful in their political actions claiming that they are in the bad books of President Museveni.

Appearing on Kabaka Mutebi’s BBS terefayina, Mao claimed that during the 2020 riots which started after the arrest of NUP Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine), intelligence landed on a phone conversations where a top opposition figure was planning with a white man on how to end President Museveni’s government using the tactics that were used to end fallen Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s government through citizen uprising.

“Do not joke with the government you foot soldiers, it has enough intelligence and is capable to understand whatever is going on. Sometimes you can do something and think that the government will not know about it, but it knows and just ignores you. A powerful opposition politician was captured on a phone with a Whiteman, asking him what they can do to force the United Nations Security Council to intervene in their fights against Museveni,” Mao claimed.

He added that the Whiteman responded to the politician that they have to fuel riots to reach the extent of Libya and when security kills more than 500 people, then the United Nations Security Council would intervene.

He claimed that Museveni was very bitter with the development and it is the reason why he fired Maj Gen Stephen Sabiiti Muzeyi from the position of deputy Inspector General of Police and replaced him  with Lt Gen Paul Lokech accussing him of failing to handle the situation yet little did he know that he was playing in the opposition’s hands.

Mao explained that after that, security decided to go for those individuals who commanded the riot and arrested them and many were paraded in the Court martial and are still in prison. Mao insisted that something is going to be done this time because the threat is still there.

The Democratic Party (DP) President general claimed that Museveni is aware that some foot soldiers are lethal and he received an intelligence report on how they are mistreating and threatening his supporters to the extent of pouring acid on one in Kira Municipality.

Mao made the statements days after the Security Council and UPDF High Command issued a warning against political radicalism. Security forces threatened to take action against any person involved and Museveni added his voice to the warning.

A number of foot soldiers including people on Bobi Wine’s personal security detail were imprisoned after the incident.
