The country’s security and intelligence agencies have deepened investigations to establish the circumstances under which the most wanted National Unity Platform (NUP) ideological teacher sneaked out of the country.
This investigative website has exclusively learnt that since last year, a one Brain Kavuma has been placed under security radar on accusations of masterminding the formation and recruitment of youths with intentions to politically radicalise them.
According to Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine), the youths recruited will be used during the coming 2026 general elections to provide security to party official candidates and protect the party votes at different poling stations.
Bobi Wine directed all party regional leaders to start recruiting the youths and form groups locally known as ‘Egaali’ who after rigorous political training at their training school in Kamwokya will being deployed in different parts of the country and party institution to provide security.
Security claim that Bobi Wine is reading through the notes and plan organized by Kavuma who has been a teacher at their political institution since its establishment and Security has been looking for him to record a statement over the allegations.
Alex Mufumbiro the NUP’s deputy spokesperson confirmed that since the security operation at their headquarters and their political institution, a number of their staff and supporters have gone missing and their families have reported to them.
He said that Kavuma is among them and they have since advised his family to report the case of a missing person at their nearest police station which is Nansana.
Upon reporting Kavuma as missing, police gave them a reference while their lawyers continue with the search from different security detention centres.
He added that they are also planning to file a Habeas corpus at the High Court so as to secure a Court directive to force the government to produce the missing persons alive or dead.
Highly placed sources at NUP revealed that Kavuma was among the first experts to be recruited at their political institution and had gained experience in teaching the party’s values, objectives and ideology.
“We suffered a setback since the raid happened, even though our leadership school resumed normal operations, some of our experienced teachers are not yet back and are still in hiding over fear that they will be kidnaped as operatives threaten them through strange unknown phone calls,” he said.
Mufumbiro added that as a party, they are still demanding for an explanation from the government on why their offices and properties were vandalised and a number of equipment including laptops, cameras, documents and money in cash was stolen.
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke defended the raid insisting that it was a based on intelligence operation noting that the exhibits recovered are going to help them in the ongoing investigation which will result in prosecuting the culprits involved in committing the alleged crimes related to treason.
This website has established that Kavuma is a resident of Nansana East 1 A and according to security, he might have used the opportunity when Bobi Wine and other party leaders were travelling abroad to the United Kingdom to also sneak out of the country to survive prosecution.
Bobi Wine, Joel Ssenyonyi the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, David Lewis Rubongoya the party Secretary General and other leaders are in United Kingdom on the official duties and security insists that Kavuma is among them and he is going to be used to defend and convince their foreign funders concerning the recruitment and training of the youths who are going to be use in the coming elections because he is the master who prepared the programme.
Sources added that Kavuma was supposed to be arrested during the security operations which resulted into the arrest of Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu the party’s chief mobilization to recruit and Achilles Kivumbi, one of the bodyguards to Bobi Wine but he survived until he run out of the country.
