Eddin Kiwanuka Musisi, a son to radio one businessman Mohan Kiwanuka Musisi has rushed to the Supreme Court seeking a temporary order stopping his elder brother Jordan Ssebuliba Kiwanuka from managing their father’s multibillion empire
Through his lawyers of Odokel Opolot and company advocates, Eddin pleaded to court to issue a temporary order stopping Ssebuliba from executing the directives that the Court of Appeal issued against his father insisting that his father has challenged the Court of Appeal decision and chances are high that he is going to win the appeal
He explained that if the execution of the decision of the Court of Appeal is not halted, his father’s appeal is going to be academic given that justices of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Cheborion Barishaki didn’t give his father a fair hearing when determining his case.
He added that he decided to swear an affidavit in support of his father’s appeal because he understands the entire appeal given that in 2019, he received powers of attorney from his father to manage his business, his health and take decisions on his behalf.
He insisted that his father’s estate is under threat in the hands of Ssebuliba who annoyed his father when he dragged him to court seeking a court order to manage his estate claiming that he was mentally sick.
On his application to stay the executions of the orders of the Court of Appeal, Eddin attached messages Ssebuliba wrote to immediate family members inviting them for a meeting to execute court orders of the Court of Appeal to prove the threat his father’s estate is facing.
However, this website has established that Eddin, a son to Kiwanuka’s second wife and also the former Minister of Finance and Economic Development in President Museveni’s government Maria Nabasirye Kiwanuka file the application for stay of the execution of the Court of Appeal when Ssebuliba had already executed most of the orders and had filed the return report to the registry of the Court of Appeal.
In their decision, the justices of the Court of Appeal had directed that if the family fails to appoint a person to manage the tycoon’s estate, court was going to appoint an eligible person to run the multibillion estate after establishing that the owner was not in the right mental state.
This website has established that Ssebuliba wrote to all financial institutions dealing with the tycoon’s estate and the Uganda National Registration Service Bureau informing them of the changes in managing the tycoon’s estate and Maria and her children were blocked from accessing the estate’s bank accounts.
However, Maria also wrote to business partners dealing with the tycoon’s estate to ignore the allegations that Ssebuliba received the powers to run the empire insisting that she is still in control and any one dealing with him is dealing will be doing so at their own risk.
