Dr Sam Mayanja the State Minister of Lands in the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development confirmed to Ono Bwino that he has directed officers especially registrars in his ministry be investigated over allegations of mismanaging the late Dr Muhammad Buwule Kasasa’s multi million estate.
The development comes after the administrators and beneficiaries of the estate filed a complaint with him claiming that their father’s land titles have been fraudulently transferred to other people’s names without their authorization.
Mayanja said that the children gave him documents showing that they put a caveat on the said land titles after learning that there are individuals who have kicked off plans to grab it through fraudulently changing ownership.
“Because some of them are not staying in the country, they left after putting a caveat on their land title, shockingly, upon their return, they found the caveat lifted and the land titles already transferred to another person’s names,” Mayanja said.
He said that he tasked the concerned officials to explain to him how the caveat was lifted without the knowledge of those who placed it and how the land titles were transferred to a third person in only days.
This website has established that the property on the land title which was transferred is a hotel situated in Mengo a Kampala city suburb and it is currently owned by controversial city businessman Moses Kalungi a former Makindye Division mayor.
Mayanja said that he has contacted Brig Gen Henry Isoke the Commandant of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to assist him with the investigation noting that whoever participated in the said fraud will be prosecuted.
Efforts to get a comment from Kalungi were fruitless since he did not pick our calls which we made on his known phone numbers.
But recently, when this website contacted him, he denied the allegation of grabbing Kasasa’s estate.
The development comes at a time when a section of Kasasa’s estate administrators is struggling to overturn the consent judgement other family members entered into with Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s family to share his Mutungo hill multibillion land by 50-50 after former Chief Justice Owiny Dollo presided over mediations and declared the matter solved.
However, a section of family member refused the mediations citing biasness from the former Chief Justice. They also ran to court.
