Owekitiibwa Israel Kazibwe Kitooke the Buganda Kingdom Information and mobilization minister has warned Princes and Princesses who are threatening to sue the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi over negligence and mismanaging their father Sir Edward Walugembe Muteesa’s multibillion estate.
Kitooke made the strong warning while responding exclusively to this website concerning a meeting that was held in Kampala where children of the late Muteesa were seeking legal guidance and giving instructions to a top city law firm to take legal action against Kabaka Mutebi claiming that he abandoned his responsibility as the heir to their father and concentrated so much on kingship responsibilities.
In the meeting which took place in Nakasero a Kampala suburb two weeks back, Kabaka’s siblings insisted that the only way they can save their father’s heritage is through a court declaration which will allow them to choose a new heir to their father so that he can become the chief administrator of their father’s multibillion estate which will give room to Kabaka Mutebi to remain with the responsibilities of running the Kingdom as a king.
“The lawyers assured us that what we are asking court to do is possible and can be allowed. Our grandfather the late King Sir Daudi Chwa appoint his elder son Mawanda as his heir and to administer his estate and take care of his many children, our father King Muteesa was appointed the Kabaka to take care of the responsibilities of the entire Kingdom. This is why the Chwa family is still sounding and fighting for their father and grandfather’s estate,” one of the Prince who attended the meeting with lawyers told this website in an exclusive interview.
He claimed that as children of Muteesa, they have serious issues they wish to share with the heir of their father and be guided; unfortunately, because of his position, they are not allowed to see him even if they plead for permission through the establishment’s administration headed by premier Charles Peter Mayiga.
“We were touched and felt bad seeing our father in a terrible health condition he went through in the previous years, we only prayed for him like other people but were denied access to him even though we are also family members like his children and wife,” the prince said.
He added that because of the gap created between them and King Mutebi, much of their estate is being managed by Buganda Land Board who are now claiming that their properties belong to the kingdom which is not true. They insisted that they have evidence that some of the properties under BLB were their father’s personal properties.
He further disclosed that it is only Kabaka Mutebi, Prince David Kintu Wasajja, Princesses Lubuga Agness Nabaloga, Princesses Sarah Kagere who are benefiting from their father’s estate that includes: a huge chunk of land situated at Mutungo Kampala city, land in Gomba district, land in Luwero district, land in Masaka district, land in Mityana district and in other places of Buganda measuring in square miles.
He added that without consulting them, Kabaka Mutebi allowed Wasajja and others to register themselves as administrators of the estate of their father from which they are milking millions of shillings and other benefits from the central government on behalf of their family because their father was the first President of Uganda.
He added that Kabaka Mutebi even failed to bring his father’s children together claiming that some were not sired by their father and when they die, they should not be buried at their ancestral burial ground at Kasubi tombs but should be taken to Bugembegembe tombs in Wakiso district.
Among those buried at Bugembegembe include: Prince Fredrick Mawanda Mutebi, Prince David Suuna Kayima who died in Denmark and was first buried at his mother’s family burial grounds before Princesses Daina Mugale Tebagala disclosed that their late father appeared to her in the night and bitterly instructed her to tell Kabaka Mutebi to exhume the body of his son from her mother’s burial place.
Prince Kayima was first subjected to DNA test to prove that he is a son to Muteesa and when the DNA results were positive, he was allowed to be buried at Bugembegembe tomb not Kasubi tomb.
A number of the surviving children to Muteesa are worried that their father’s heir might direct them to be buried at Bugembegembe even though they wish to be buried on the same burial ground with their fallen father.
This website has establish that king Mutesa left behind documented children who include: Prince Kiwewa Luswata, Prince Robert Masamba Kimera, Prince David Suuna Ssezibwa, Kabaka Mutebi, Prince Frederick Walugembe Suuna, Prince Henry Kalemera, Prince George Micheal Ndawula, Prince Joseph Ndawula, Prince Walugembe Bamweyana, Prince Katabazi, Prince Patrick Nakibinge, Prince Daudi Golooba, Prince Herbert Kateregga, Prince Frederick Mawanda Mutebi, Prince David Kintu Wasajja and a number of others who are not documented.
He also left behind documented daughters who include: Princesses Dorothy Nasolo, Princesses Dinah Mugga, Princesses Sarah Kagere Nandawula, Princesses Agness Nabaloga, Princesses Alice Mpologoma Zalwango, Princesses Stellah Ndagire, Princesses Jane Mpologoma, Princesses Catherine Nakwabwe, Princesses Diana Temugale but they claim that there are many others because their father was man in his own rank when it came to building the clan.
However, Minister Kitooke rubbished all the allegations placed on his boss and warned that the Kingdom and Kabaka’s personal lawyers are on standby to faceoff with the errant royal family members who are being used by the kingdom enemies to fight the person of Kabaka Mutebi with the agenda of weakening the Kingdom.
“They are not the first people to sue Kabaka, do you remember how Kabaka and the Kingdom defeated those people who were claiming that Buganda Land Board was managing their father’s and grandfather’s estates! There is evidence that Buganda Land Board is managing the properties of the Kingdom on behalf of all the Baganda and it is not owned by Kabaka Mutebi as they claim. I don’t know whether their lawyers have addressed themselves on these issues also before accepting the instructions!” Kitooke said.
Kitooke added that the problem that the Kabaka has is that all his known siblings got their share from their father’s estate but many of them mismanaged it by selling their share and because they don’t want to work, they think that even the properties of Baganda are their which is not true.
He insisted that Kabaka always meets and receives his sibling’s complaints and problems and solves them through Prince Wasajja.
He added that Mutebi is a King of all Baganda not only his siblings.
