Deputy Chief Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija was stranded at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) polling station as he waited for Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama’s electoral commission staff to open the polling exercise.

By 7:30am, Justice Zeija with his armed security was already at the polling station walking around the condoned polling centre while chatting with other voters and asking them when the voting was going to start.

He was joined by the local and international observers until 8:30am when he decided to move away. He returned at 9:30am but nothing had changed apart from the increased number of voters.

As he waited, in about 30 minutes, the polling staff arrived and organised themselves after apologising for coming late.

The polling started at 11am because as Justice Zeija was sweating in the line with other voters, the electoral commission staff were struggling with the biometric machines which had failure to work.

After failing to make them work, EC polling staff announced that they were going to use the voters register, and Justice Zeija was among the first two voters to be attended to.

President Museveni won the 2021 election and promised to investigate why the biometric machines which cost the taxpayers billions of money failed to work on polling date.
