The re-elected Wakiso district Women Member of Parliament Bethel Naluyima placed National Unity Platform (NUP) agents at the district tallying center on standby after getting information on the way the defeated Kira Municipality National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Daniel Kananura was walking around the place.

“You people wakeup, what is Kananura looking for here, he was defeated but it seems he wants to compromise some people here,” Naluyima said.

Defeated incumbent Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has been accusing Kananura of having a clandestine plan to steal opposition victory after he boasted that once he is declared winner, he has the powers to compromise court to cement his victory

Naluyima’s warning alerted the winner lawyer George Musisi to observe Kananura’s suspicious movements at the tallying center as he pressurized the district returning officer Tolbert Musinguzi to declare him.

Musisi later claimed that Kananura wanted to use the funds he received from the NRM secretariat during the polling week to compromise his victory after Musinguzi assured him that if he is very sure that he won, nothing is going to change.

When asked what he was looking for at the tallying center, Kananura said that he was looking for declaration forms and other documents to study them with his lawyers insisting that he wanted to challenge Musisi’s victory in the courts of law.
