Special Forces Command (SFC) Commandos took a decisive decision of allowing Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s convoy to access the route to his Mengo palace which was blocked for hours because president Museveni was launching the building of a multibillion Lwattamu House which he donated to Buganda Kingdom clan heads.
Highly placed sources close to Kabaka revealed to this website that his immediate assistants were shocked on the morning of 27th July, 2025 when their boss told them that before going to Mengo, they should first go to Kibuli because he has an appointment with Dr Prince Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu the Muslim titular leader in Uganda.
Sources said that Kabaka’s convoy drove direct to Kakungulu’s home where he held a one on one meeting with his host which almost took three hours before he exited to Bulange and since that meeting, this website can authoritatively report that Museveni’s intelligence agencies and Buganda Premier Charles Peter Mayiga’s leadership are panicking and wondering what the two brothers discussed.
The meeting comes at a time when there is a sharp fight within members of Buganda Kingdom Royal family.
The grandchildren of the late Sir Daudi Chwa and Sir Edward Mutesa’s children accuse their brother King Mutebi of grabbing their estates claiming that it is part of Buganda Kingdom land.
They insist that the said properties including the 250 acres of Kaazi land was owned by their grandfather in his personal capacity and not as Kabaka of Buganda.
Sir Edward Mutesa’s children accuse Kabaka Mutebi of neglecting them and only thinking about his young brother Prince David Kintu Wasajja, Princes Agness Nabaloga and a few others with whom they are sharing the benefits of their father’s estates.
This website has established that a few months back, Kabaka directed Kakungulu to engage his discontented brothers and sisters to see how they can resolve their grievances and since then Kakungulu has been executing the big man’s orders.
Kabaka is also trying to solve the ongoing divisions inside Buganda Kingdom clan heads council where a section of clan heads are no longer taking his advising and are siding with President Museveni who bought for them a Shs9bn piece of land at Mengo and promised to build for them a Shs58bn commercial building.
Clan heads accuse Kabaka Mutebi of turning a deaf ear as Mayiga’s leadership undermines them to the extent of ordering them to surrender their ancestral land to Buganda Land Board a company responsible for managing the kingdom land and fueling the Kingdom parliament to pass a resolution condemning the meeting they held with President Museveni in 2023.
The ongoing silent fight between Mayiga’s administration and president Museveni where Mayiga accused Museveni of using his information and national guidance junior minister Owekitiibwa Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo to weaken the Kingdom by dividing clan heads which is one of the fundamental pillars the Kingdom is built on.
This website has established that Mayiga through his contacts in State House and Prince Wasajja tried to frustrate Museveni’s visit to the clan heads land by even boasting that the President will only visit the place after clan heads have honoured the Kabaka’s directive to surrender all the documents concerning the land that the president bought for them which they declined to do.
Sources claim that prince Wasajja personally contacted Museveni on phone and pleaded with him to extend the visit to another day. However, minister Nabbosa put up a spirited fight and assured the president that Wasajja is misleading him because of their misunderstandings with clan heads.
Museveni according to sources directed his Senior advisor on defence and Security Lt Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso to investigate the claim made by Wasajja and Nabbosa, and after she briefed briefed him, he okayed the visit.
Sources close to Kabaka told this website that the Kabaka, Kakungulu’s meeting was very sensitive because on several occasion, the Kabaka has always summoned his henchmen including former Buganda premiers like Joseph Mulwanyamuli, Dan Muliika and JB Walusimbi at his Mengo palace and not him going to their homes.
Sources at Bulange the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom disclosed that in the ongoing consultations, Kabaka might be seeking advice on whether to bring another Premier or Mayiga is still fit to perform.
However, insiders told this website that even though Kabaka is under pressure to fire Mayiga, he still wants him because of instrumental developments he has achieved as premier and he might lead the negotiations with other warring parties which are fighting him to resolve their misunderstandings.
Kabaka appointed Mayiga as Buganda premier in 2013 replacing JB Walusimbi and since his appointment, he has been facing a number of difficulties especially from members of the Royal family and clan heads.
As Mayiga thinking of his next move, intelligence is also scared that Kabaka and Kakungulu might be not happy with Museveni especially at a time when his support in Buganda is declining based on the statements Kakungulu made during the 32 celebrations of Kabaka Mutebi’s enthronement.
