The Speaker of parliament Annet Anita Among who also doubles as the National vice chairperson in charge of women of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has confirmed that new conditions have been issued on how her party presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni will interact with his supporters in the ongoing presidential campaigns.

Addressing thousands of Museveni supporters in Lwengo district, Among revealed that the President’s security in consultation with the party top leadership took a decision to stop the president from personally receiving gifts at campaign rallies.

She explained that all the President’s supporters who wish to give him gifts or anything should place them in one place and after the rally, the president will inspect them.

She disclosed that this decision was taken as precaution measure concerning the President’s health.

It is an open secret that President Museveni does not take matters of his health lightly and doesn’t like dirty places.

When he was opening a multibillion road in Kampala city, the President blasted KCCA leadership for not cleaning the city. He wondered why flies were flying around his table noting that it puts people’s life in danger

State House sources said that one time the President fired his aides for serving him food on a damaged plate when he was in Karamoja inspecting the security situation in the region.

Even though Covid-19 is no longer a big threat, the President always wears his mask especially when he is attending to huge gatherings and he is very careful with his microphone.

Sources said that he is very careful to the extent that he does not use his bare fingers to even touch it but has to use a serviette.

Emmanuel Lumala Dombo the NRM spokesperson said that even though Museveni is a presidential candidate, he is still the sitting President and this is the reason why security around him is always vigilant and all people who access his political rallies have to go through a thorough security checkup.

He admitted that it is true, they give transport to people who come from far areas from where he holds his political rallies because he wants to addresses them at once.

Museveni himself apologised to Ugandans especially those of Kampala who spend minutes being blocked when his security is clearing the way for him.

He explained that the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) who tried to assassinate Gen Edward Katumba Wamala were threatening his life.
