Since December 2025, Hajat Sharif Buzeki the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director (ED) has been summoning and holding private meetings with the authority junior staff from different departments.

According to sources, staff were served with all types of food and drinks during the meetings and in her opening remarks, Buzeki asked the staff to be open to her because the reason why she was holding such meetings was to know them very well and also for them to understand her.

“One by one, they were given the opportunity to openly tell the Executive Director the problems they were going through as they executed their day-to-day work. Because of the environment in the room, staff spoke their mind,” a source said.

Cleaners and drivers were among the staff Buzeki met and the interaction with them helped her to get a clear picture of what is on the ground because through these engagements she got to understand how corrupt some senior officials are, the tactics they use and those who do nepotism were also exposed.

Sources said that Buzeki assured the junior staff that her office will always be open for them for any issue which affects them and she pleaded with them to avoid strikes before engaging her office.

The development comes amidst accusations from the deputy Resident City Commissioner in charge of Central Division Shafick Nsubuga who accused KCCA enforcement team of soliciting for bribes from vendors who ply their trade on Kampala streets and in turn these officers tip them on any planned operation against them.

This website understands that Buzeki’s initiative comes at a time when the president is also studying the situation at City Hall after receiving several petitions from whitsblowers exposing corruption, nepotism and infighting at the authority.

Sources said that Buzeki is expected to use the evidence collected from her junior staff to clean KCCA and the process is expected to take not less than six months

President Museveni appointed Buzeki to head KCCA in 2025 replacing Dorothy Kisaka who was fired for sleeping on the job and her recklessness led to the death of a number of people and loss of properties during the Kiteezi landfill disaster.
