Controversial Criminal Division of the High Court Judge Emmanuel Baguma has confirmed that on three occasions, he has stopped his no nonsense Special Forces Command (SFC) commandos from arresting maverick lawyer Male Mabirizi.
The judge claimed that his security was scared of the way Mabirizi moves past his office. They feared that he had something dangerous he wanted to plant at the entrance of his office. Baguma disclosed that he advised his guards to just monitor his movements boasting that he is a man of God who cannot be intimidated or scared.
The judge’s statement resulted from a technical problem on the judiciary communication machines and he suspected that Mabirizi might have had a hand in the incident because of his chaotic personality and given that he always broadcasts what happens in court on his social media handles.
Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago who was leading Dr Kizza Besigye’s legal team pleaded with Justice Baguma to give Mabirizi the opportunity to defend himself concerning the allegations he was placing on him.

“But my lord, you told us that your chambers are open, why should your security get scared when someone passes by it! Anyway, I don’t have bad intentions against you,” Mabirizi defended himself.
Another maverick lawyer Aron Kizza also raised a serious issue telling judge Baguma that defence lawyers and relatives of the accused persons are being harassed by security at the gate with some being stopped from entering court.
He was supported by Besigye who told Court that their relatives are being stopped from entering court yet security operatives with masks are allowed enter while hiding their faces under masks.
Ono Bwino online understands that one of the defense lawyers who is also a brother to Besigye’s co-accused Hajji Obed Kamulegeya Lutale collapsed at the gate as security tried to harass him.
Journalists who are not friendly to judiciary communications department were also not allowed to cover Besigye case but Justice Baguma promised that all the raised issues will be addressed before the matter proceeds on 22nd January, 2026.
However, one of the security bosses at the judiciary headquarters told this reporter that they are only responsible for security inside the court premises not outside.
He added that security outside is under the command of Kampala Metropolitan police and other security agencies so they are not answerable to whatever happens there.
Besigye together with Lutale and UPDF soldier Captain Denis Oola were forced to take plea on charges related to having attempting to assassinate President Museveni and poison top government officials.
