Maverick State Minister in Charge of Lands in the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development Dr Sam Mayanja has narrated why his boss President Museveni is more comfortable dealing with dropped Buganda Kingdom premier JB Walusimbi than Owekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga who is currently steering the Kingdom’s administration.
He claims that when Walusimbi was still the katikkiro of Buganda, he was open and publicly announced whatever his leadership received from Museveni’s government unlike Mayiga who keeps the good things Museveni does for the kingdom a secret and instead praises himself for the achievement without mentioning Museveni’s name.
“When the President contributed money for the reconstruction of Kasubi tombs, the money to promote modern agriculture and coffee seedings, JB Walusimbi appreciated and thanked the President but Mayiga only tags his name to the achievements steered by the President like promoting coffee farming in Buganda well knowing that it is Museveni who contributed money and coffee seedlings to farmers in Buganda,” Mayanja said.
He further claims that JB Walusimbi was working well with Museveni in protecting tenants on the official mailo. However, when Mayiga was appointed, he started by directing all tenants on the Official mailo to apply for lease while misleading the public that the said land is privately owned by Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi which is not true.

He however praised the Kabaka for being a clever person and always avoiding being dragged in political wars which his people in Mengo administration are benefiting from personally.
This website has learnt from highly placed sources that a number of brokers in the city are bitter with Mayiga because he streamlined the administration of the Kingdom which was not the practice previously.
“We are not surprised with Mayanja’s comments because he was a beneficiary of deal makers at Bulange. Imagine the Katikkiro standing in the dock to defend a known fraudster and always running to the president for financial troubles resulting from fraudulent deals. All that embarrassment is no longer allowed,” a senior Kabaka minister said.
He added that Mayiga is not fighting to have a good relationship with Museveni but to take Buganda back to its glory position and people like Mayanja are always angery because of his leadership style
