Charles Rwomushana, a former senior operative attached to Internal Security Organisation(ISO) has asked the police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Director Maj. Dr. Top Magambo with immediate effect to kick off investigations against veteran political journalist and also the newly appointed presidential advisor on NRM archives Geoffrey Tony Owana for raiding and looting government store.
Rwomushana claims that when the president directed that Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) then Uganda Television (UTV) be shifted from their headquarters in Nakasero to their current home near parliament, a number of useful video and audio recordings which made up the country’s archives were misplaced.
He alleges that without advising management of the television and the radio to collect the archives, Owana fraudulently collected the audio and video recordings and photos including those of former national leaders and kept them in his possession and he is currently using the national properties to get money and positions in government.
However, veteran political journalist who also douvles as Radio Simba political talk show host defended Owana that he did the rightful thing of collecting the country’s archives and putting them to good use, that is why the country is currently benefiting from them.
He wondered why up to now Owana has not been given a car and a bodyguard like other presidential advisors.
He noted that the country risks losing Owana in a boda boda accident if he is not helped because he is always seen jumping from one boda boda to another along the congested Kampala city roads.
