Flamboyant city lawyer also the national vice president of the Democratic Party (DP) president general Fred Mukasa Mbidde has narrated how his boss Norbert Mao sold his soul for money and a good life.
Mbidde said that he decided to support Mao fifteen years back for the top party office even though his other colleagues were sidelining him based on tribal grounds.
“I don’t know what happened to our colleague Mao, he was a gentleman who didn’t believe in the accumulation of wealth. That’s why I supported him even though I was not from Acholi,” Mbidde said.
He added that since his appointment as a Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in President Museveni’s government, he started rubbishing his colleagues and even abandoned the course of DP’s struggle which was initiated by their forefathers.

“I get ashamed seeing those people surrounding him during press conferences praising him and clapping while he makes unserious statements. They are jobless because of him but they are scared to tell him the truth that he betrayed the DP cause,” Mbidde said.
He claimed that Mao has even failed to think about other party stakeholders around the country who are currently mobilizing support for the party to participate in the coming village council leadership elections.
Mbidde narrated how he saved a one Mulindwa, a DP member in Kiruddu in Makindye Division who was imprisoned on fabricated charges because his opponents were scared of his support.
He petitioned Justice Simon Byabakama’s Electoral Commission and his case was handled as a special one which led to his nomination in absentia but Mao never is not even bothered that such things are happening to party supporters and members.
“Currently, it is difficult to differentiate whether DP is in opposition or in government. Now, as we are mobilizing political support, what are we telling people on trusting us with power!” Mbidde added.
He confirmed that he is on the ground mobilizing support to oust Mao from the DP presidency in the coming elections.
He assured him that he is not going to use other means to remove him from office apart from general elections.
Mbidde joins former State House head of political intelligence desk Charles Rwomushana who publicly announced that he wants Mao to resign as minister.
“Mao, a highly trained lawyer, a human rights activist cannot be the supervisor of a judiciary where judges and magistrates are keeping people on remand by dismissing their mandatory bail applications. Judicial officers are remanding suspects presented before them after being tortured which is a violation of the constitution which I participate in making,” Rwomushana said.
He divulged that Mao is being used as a washing machine which is cleaning the dirt that is left by security operatives against Ugandans.
Gen Saleh was recently quoted guiding the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to brief Mao on State intelligence which they they based on to imprison opposition politicians Dr Kizza Besigye, his political assistant Obed Kamulegeya Lutale, former Kampala City Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago and a number of others.
Rwomushana explained that Mao’s resignation is going to exonerate him from the public narrative that he was appointed a minister to get a monthly salary and allowances to change his life as a person and his family.
However, Mao recently blasted his critics and advised them to leave him alone because they were there when he was starting his political journey.
