Gen Salim Saleh has intervened in the family fight over the late controversial National Resistance Movement (NRM) Kayunga district chairperson Moses Kariisa Karangwa’s multibillion estate.
Ono Bwino recently reported about the ongoing fight between a section of Karangwa’s children led by Jackline Birungi and widow Florance Kirabo Karangwa .
Karangwa died in May 2026 in a car accident and at the time of his death, he was one of the richest politicians in Uganda dealing in real estate, car bond business, food supply business, media and communications business and oil and gas business
Karangwa was a strong NRM mobilizer and on several occasions facilitated NRM candidates at different levels and he was fundamental on deciding the winner in the cattle corridor and parts of Busoga.

At his burial in Budaali Village in Bbaale Sub-county, Kayunga District, Presideny Museveni through his message delivered by Milly Babirye Babalanda, the minister in charge of presidency praised Karangwa for being patriotic and a cadre of the NRM party noting that the country is going to miss him.
Few weeks after his death, a fight exploded which resulted into the widow using armed military to block Birungi and other children from accessing their father’s grave.
Another sharp fight according to sources is for the multibillion Sunset beach building in Mukono Municipality where millions of shillings are collected in rent every month.
It is alleged that the widow directed all tenants to continue using the bank account which they were using during the days of Karangwa which is in the names of Venna and after paying, they should share with her the receipt so that she also confirms.
However, Birungi also directed tenants to pay their monthly rate in cash to the building manager and they should make sure that they receive receipts.
The tenants on the building told Ono Bwino that they were confused on was the rightful person to give their rent adding that the circus from their landlords was threatening their businesses.
Ono Bwino also learnt that Birungi and Kirabo were also fighting over a petrol station in Kayunga town council, a car bond a long Gayaza road and a farm in Bbaale.
Based on the ongoing fights, Ono Bwino has learnt that last month, Birungi and her uncle Augustine Karangwa who is the deceased’s young brother who was also helping him to run his businesses asked for Gen Saleh’s intervention.
Sources claim that after Birungi and her uncle told Gen Saleh what they were going through, and accusing the widow of having bad company who were misleading her into sidelining her and other children, Gen Saleh asked them to first give him time to engage the widow so that he is guided on the way forward after listening to both sides.
Sources said that Gen Saleh and other first family members including president Museveni were friends to Karangwa and his family members are very sure that their intervention will help to solve the ongoing family fights.
In 2022, Karangwa legalised his marriage to Kirabo in a lavish wedding which was attended by powerful people from around the country.
Sources said that even though Kirabo has Karangwa’s children, at the time of their marriage, the deceased had other children including Kirabo the former Buikwe district Resident District Commissioner and NRM flag bearer for Kayunga district woman Member of Parliament seat.
