Detectives investigating the alleged crimes committed by Annet Anita Among during her tenure as speaker of parliament are seriously following a link placing Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transition (ANT) at the former speaker’s crime scene.
Highly placed sources close to the ongoing investigations claim that ANT is among the opposition political party which benefited from Among’s alleged crimes during the 2026 general elections.
Ofwono Opondo the Member of Parliament representing elderly people in Eastern Uganda claims that during his last interaction with incarcerated director of communication and corporate affairs of parliament Chris Obore, he told him that much of the money he is accused of mismanaging was taken by politicians who refused to sign as recipients.
Sources claim that investigators have established that Among was very instrumental in funding and helping Ismail Kasule the only ANT MP representing Hoima West Division.
Investigators have allegedly established that Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu, the incerserated blue-eyed boy to Among and also the Principal Research Officer at Parliament was the personal contact between Among and Kasule.
It is alleged that Ssemalulu, a former member of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) who is currently facing money laundering, embezzlement and corruption charges helped a number of opposition candidates to be declared by Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama’s electoral commission once they sealed a political deal with Among.
According to sources, Among was very instrumental on which candidates won as MPs especially those who she was sure members of the Deep State did not support.
Kampala district woman MP Hajat Minsa Kabanda claimed that she was among the people approached by Among to be declared unopposed but she declined the offer because she was very sure of the support on the ground and did not need to force her opponents out of the race.
Sources said that immediately after the general elections, Ssemalulu, a flamboyant politician bought a mansion which he gifted to one of his wives and a commercial building a long Bombo Road.
Sources said that Kasule is not the only opposition legislator under investigation on allegations of benefiting from Among crimes, others are Richard Ssebamala the Bukoto Central MP of the Democratic Party (DP) and Ali Kasirye Mulyanyama of the National Unity Platform (NUP)
Mulyanyama confirmed that opposition candidates went through a lot of be declared winners by the Electoral Commission claiming that there those who were even forced to take oath that they will not disorganize National Resistance Movement (NRM) political projects.
