Boxing fans are celebrating the debut of the intercity boxing tournament which was hosted by Gulu city at Bomah hotel over the weekend.

Boxing fans are celebrating the debut of the intercity boxing tournament which was hosted by Gulu city at Bomah hotel over the weekend.

The main battle was between giants boxers from Kampala and the home boys of Gulu who were defeated.

The tournament was organised by friends of boxing in their initiative launched countrywide to take boxing tournaments close to local fans.

The first bout on the card was between Congolese national from team Kampala Irene Kyaviro who defeated Lamaro Pheobe aka Die Hard from Gulu City.

Out of the 12 bouts played on the day, Kampala City won 6 bouts while their opponents Gulu City won 4 bouts and the two bouts went into a technical draw.

The main fight of the day lasted five minutes with the referee stopping the fight after Yakub Coach threw in the towel in the second round to avoid his boxer from receiving more punches from Kenneth Kaunda of Gulu City.

The battle night was attended by forte bet officials led by their brand ambassador Alex Muhangi and some Government officials from Gulu City.

On behalf of Friends of Boxing, Frank Rulinda thanked forte bet for their support and Gulu fans who came in large numbers to support their boxers.

Ronald Duku from Gulu City and Ivan Magumba from Kampala City received each a smart phone from forte bet after putting up a good fight which ended in a technical draw.

Irene Kyaviro of Kampala City defeated Lamaro Pheobe of Gulu City.

Faisal Ashinda Junior of Kampala City defeated Innocent Odur of Gulu City.

David Okao of Gulu City defeated Micheal Lukwago of Kampala City in the 4 rounds of welterweight.

Jerry Norbert Kakanyero of Gulu City defeated Ismail Kibirige of Kampala City in the 4 rounds of super welterweight.

Ronald Rubangakene of Gulu City and Katabi Joseph of Kampala City in super bantamweight went into a draw.

Laker Sarah Katongole of Gulu City defeated Marion Akankunda of Kampala City in the 4 rounds of super light weight.

Beinfait Shetebo of Kampala City defeated Jimmy Odong of Gulu City in 6 rounds of super featherweight.

Jesca Nakiridde of Kampala City defeated Lakica Sharon of Gulu City in the 4 rounds of super bantamweight.

Ronnie Wandera of Kampala City knocked down Oryang Alfred of Gulu City in the second round of cruiser weight.

Sowali Sentongo of Kampala City defeated Lucky Ogenrwot of Gulu City in the 6 rounds of super bantamweight.

Ronald Duku of Gulu City and Ivan Magumba of Kampala City went into a technical draw.

Kenneth Kaunda aka Mayweather of Gulu City technically knocked down Yakubu Magumba aka King of the Ring in the second of 8 rounds in light weight.
