Recently, Ono Bwino reported how Gen Salim Saleh was very bitter with the fraud and impunity used to declare some National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates winners.
It was reported that Gen Saleh was concerned with the way Nakaseke south MP elections were handled especially the battle that involved National Unity Platform’s Paulson Luttamaguzi Ssemakula who was defeated by Charles Nsereko Basajjassubi the husband to Rose Namayanja Nsereko the deputy Secretary General of the NRM and Nakaseke Central where incumbent Allan Mayanja was defeated by Kampala junior minister Christopher Kabuye Kyofatogabye.
After studying the evidence which both parties provided, Gen Saleh advised the NRM winners to compensate those contesting their victory.
Luttamaguzi and Nsereko settled their issues even though Luttamaguzi still insists that there were no talks as it was reported.
However, sources allege that the inciting statements he made after his loss in the elections is the reason why Gen Saleh summoned the said meeting because he was scared of dragging his name in such electoral offences.
Minister Kabuye also confirmed that he attempted several times to engage Mayanja concerning his court case but Mayanja declined to respond to him insisting on going to Court to restore his victory that is why he has already filed his election petition through his lawyers led by Constitutional law giant Ssalongo Erias Lukwago.
Sources close to minister Kabuye are now accusing Lukwago of misleading Mayanja to file a petition challenging their man’s victory so as score political revenge on him by nullifying his victory because he has been also moving around boasting of how he played a central role in his defeat as Kampala Lord Mayor in the 2026 general elections.
Kabuye’s efforts to defend Mayanja’s election petition also suffered a setback when his first priority lawyers Caleb Alaka and Evans Ochieng declined to take his case citing conflict of interest with his opponents. He was advised to look for other lawyers.
While minister Kabuye was struggling to defend his victory, he was also under pressure from Museveni’s advisor and also a veteran liberation war fighter Al-Hajji Abdul Nadduli who has been soiling his name.
Sources said that Gen Saleh intervened in Nadduli-Kabuye fight after learning that Kanuye did not do the assignment he directed him do for Nadduli which forced Nadduli to turn his bitterness and anger on him.
Through his X handle, minister Kabuye confirmed that he was with Nadduli in his office in Kampala, “I always take off time and pay a visit to the elders to know our heritage,” he wrote.
When this reporter contacted Nadduli who has been publicly accusing Kabuye of being a fraudster on whether the said meeting resolved their grievances and misunderstanding, he replied “now I am an elder not only in Nakaseke district but in the entire Buganda, Uganda, and Africa. I no longer believe in those cheap flights which you’re talking about, I’ve outgrown them.”
Sources said that Nadduli’s issues have been giving Kabuye sleepless nights because they have been affecting his relationship with his god father Gen Saleh who played a fundamental role in his appointment as a minister in 2021 when he was not even a Member of Parliament
Sources said that President Museveni and Gen Saleh see Kabuye as their son because his father played a big role in the 1981 liberation war.
