A Ugandan citizen Hamidu Bbaka Ssengendo has filed a private criminal prosecution case against National Peasants party (NPP) presidential candidate Robert Kasibante at Mengo Chief Magistrates’ Court.
According to court documents on the court record seen by this reporter, in his affidavit, Bbaka claims that in December 2019, his friend a one Elly Wasajja introduced him to the accused person assuring him that he is a big man in President Museveni’s government given that he was a personal assistant to former Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi and was working in his office.
He says that the accused person assured him that he was going to help him to process all the necessary documents for him to travel to Canada where he wanted to go for greener pastures.
He was told that he had to pay Shs12m to facilitate the process.

“The accused stated that it would cost me Shs12m but allowed me to pay in instalments which I did between 19th December 2019 and 30th April 2022 at Nateete victory school of beauty, Lubaga catholic Cathedral parking and via mobile money. In total, I gave him Shs9m,” Bbaka stated in his affidavit.
He claims that they had agreed that after raising the Shs9m, he was going to pay the balance once he reaches after reaches Canada and starts working. However, after paying the money, the accused person turned against him and he started hiding from him, declined to pick his phone calls and refused to respond to his messages.
After threatening to institute criminal proceedings against him, Bbaka says that Kasibante told him that he was going to refund his money but since 2023, he has been playing him and sending him people to advise him to let the money go otherwise he was going to regret.
When contacted for a comment, Kasibante declined to comment on the allegation placed on him noting that he was busy in the field looking for votes to liberate Ugandans from Museveni’s bad governance.
“How can you call a incoming president on phone and tell him such stories, please never call my phone again otherwise you will be arrested for nothing because I’m now a powerful person in this country and the world at large, I’m a presidential candidate,” Kasibante boasted on the phone
The magistrate has not yet issued criminal summons against Kasibante according to court record but Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda insists that Kasibante is a project brought by Museveni to interfere with National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) especially on the ballot paper.
Ssemujju explained that both presidential candidates have the same Robert name, and their next name starts with letter K. which means that he was going to influences Bobi Wine’s position on the presidential ballot paper
