The top management of Buganda Kingdom’s radio Central Broadcasting Services (CBS) panicked when they received a phone call from Ronald Muwenda Mutebi the Kabaka of Buganda asking then what had happened to the celebrated news anchor Wamala Balunaba after spending days without hearing him on the airwaves reading the famous 9:00am news.
Insiders in CBS told this website that Kabaka was told that Balunaba was still recovering after losing the 2016 Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament elections.
However, the truth, which they didn’t tell the Kabaka was that he was stopped from coming back to the radio stations after being accused of participating in partisan elections. His bosses told him that his return was going to affect the brand of the radio.
As Balunaba was pondering his next move, he was surprised to receive a phone call from CBS management telling him to come back and read the next day’s morning news and from then, he is taken as one of untouchables at CBS.
The Kabaka did not only save Balunaba, he also saved his longtime spokesperson Dick Kasolo who was sidelined and his office at Bulange building which is the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom was closed.
He was also denied access to his boss on grounds that they nolonger needed him since the Kingdom had a Minister of Information and also an official spokesperson of the Kingdom.
After months of not seeing and hearing from him, Kabaka asked his assistants Kasolo’s whereabouts.
When he was told that they also don’t know, he asked for his phone number which sent the leadership at Bulange into panic mode because they had sidelined him hiding behind the Kabaka’s name.
On phone, Kabaka summoned Kasolo to his Banda Palace. In their meeting, Kasolo narrated to him the tough times he was going through since he was fired from his job.
The Kabaka immediately told him to go back to his office and according to sources, Kasolo heard Kabaka’s voice as a dream come true. Kasolo asked the Kabaka him to guide him on what he was going to tell people who closed his office.
“Kasolo, go back in the office, I’m the one who gave you that job and I’m the one who is telling you so,” a source quoted Kabaka telling one of his longest serving friends.
The next day, Kasolo majestically entered Bulange building and when he asked for his office keys, they told him that he has to get a permission from the Kingdom Premier Charles Peter Mayiga.
He responded to them in a vibey tone saying, “My dear, there is no need for me to go to Mayiga, it is boss’ boss who told me to come back here and I need my keys please.”
After making consultations on phone, Kasolo was given the keys and he entered his office.
A few weeks back, he was assigned a special assignment as a commissioner in the Ministry of Information with a fat monthly salary and since then, he is one of the untouchables in Bulange building.
However, this website has learnt that since Kabaka Mutebi’s sicknes, where he is following doctor’s orders, he is no longer allowed to listen CBS radio for a long time which means he no longer follows what is going on in the management of the Kingdom.
Veteran Kingdom staff especially those working with CBS are being threatened with losing their well-paying jobs.
“I don’t know who saved Maddie Nsereko. The current Kingdom leadership are silently fighting those people inside the Kingdom who saw them struggling with life before getting those juicy offices. They think that because they know their history, that is why they are undermining them which is not true,” one of the veteran presenters at CBS told Ono Bwino.
He added that since 2016, Nsereko, a celebrated political and entertainment show host at CBS has been struggling with protecting his job which the Kingdom top management wanted to be given to other people.
This veteran presenter added that the reason why Dunstan Busulwa was fished from pastor Jackson Ssenyonga’s Top media was to be Nsereko’s replacement.
During that time, Nsereko was saved by Gen Salim Saleh.
His relationship with the Kingdom top leadership further turned bitter when he was summoned by Mayiga for responding to National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters who were attacking him for leading the fight against Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine).
When Nsereko was asked why nolonger hosts the NUP Principal on the Kingdom media houses, he told them to ask Mayiga.
The comments rubbed the Buganda Premier the wrong way.
It is now almost a month and half when Nsereko is off the radio waves and his fans have been asking what happened to him.
Rumours started making rounds that he was fired.
However, the radio management rubbished the allegations of Nsereko’s dismissal insisting that he is on sick leave abroad.
No comment is being made by him to clarify on the allegations as his known phone numbers are unreachable.
However, this website learnt that Nsereko has been in and out of hospital since 2020 and sources said that he was rushed to United Kingdom to receive treatment because his eyes have issues.
