Flamboyant Bukoto Central Member of Parliament Richard Ssebamala has celebrated the troubles of defeated Butambala county legislator and also the National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy president in charge of Buganda Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi
Ssebamala revealed that when the Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among allegedly made statements attacking the legislators from Buganda during the passing of the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA), legislators from Buganda region approached him as their caucus leader to mobilizes them so that they report the matter the Owekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga the Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister but they were shocked with the way he blasted them and rubbished Mayiga.
“He told us that he cannot waste his time reporting what was going on in parliament to Mayiga who he accused of not supporting his political party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) of NUP party,” Ssebamala said.
He added that, “good enough he was also defeated like other senior legislators he has been fighting, he thought that he was very special and fought everyone who was not in good books with Bobi Wine.”
He claimed that Kivumbi and Bobi Wine contributed a lot to the defeat of senior legislators like Mathius Mpuuga Nsamba, Abed Bwanika, Asuman Basalirwa, Medard Lubega Ssegona, Joyce Bagala, Yusuf Nsibambi who were in good books with Buganda Kingdom leadership.
“They have been moving around telling people that they are going to silence us and that our defeat will be a defeat to CBS radio which gives us opportunity to speak to the public,” Ssebamala said
He added that people have been praising Bobi Wine and even him, he voted for him when he stood for the presidency but time has come to inform him that he is the worst opposition leader Uganda has ever had.
He alleged that the man from Gomba is very malicious yet he has added nothing to the struggle to oust President Museveni apart from gaining personal benefits.
He narrated that Bobi Wine found a well-designed opposition platform which was organized by Dr Kizza Besigye the four-time presidential candidate but he failed to build on it and instead used it to fight personal wars which resulted into their poor performance in the 2026 general elections.
Ssabamala was supported by veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda who said that Bobi Wine has weakened opposition in Uganda by fronting his personal interests and that is the reason why in the 2026 general election, Buganda Kingdom Deep State didn’t support him as they did in the 2021 general election because even kingdom platforms like CBS radio decided not to promote him this time but toed a middle ground which has led to his poor performance in Buganda this time.
Mwenda advised Bobi Wine to go back to the drawing board and amend his relationship with Buganda Kingdom leadership and the catholic church.
He advised him that those two institutions are very instrumental in deciding the political heavy weight in Buganda.
He added that after being defeated in the 2021 general elections in Buganda, Museveni went back to the drawing board and he has been in talks and luring Buganda Kingdom leadership and the catholic church to his side and it is the reason why he performed well.
Highly placed sources at Mengo told Ono Bwino online that the Kingdom officials were happy with Kivumbi and Luttamaguzi Ssemakula defeats in the parliamentary elections and Bobi Wine’s poor performance in Buganda because they thought that they are influential in the region more than Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.
At the moment, Kivumbi is lying in prison after being arrested on terrorism related charges and Bobi Wine is in hiding for fear for his life. Other party leaders are on the run while others are in prison.
