In a dramatic way, dressed in a yellow tracksuit, controversial Court of Appeal judge Musa Ssekaana assured maverick city lawyer Male Mabirizi that he has the capacity without the help of any of his bodyguards to defend himself if he dares to insult him physically.
Justice Ssekaana response resulted from Mabirizi boasting in the Court of Appeal corridors as he bypassed justice Ssekaana and his armed bodyguard who was preventing him from reaching where the judge was standing.
“You’re stopping because you think that I’m going to fight Ssekaana! I’m his nightmare,” Mabirizi boasted as a mean looking commando placed his hand on his chest to stop him from walking towards his principal.
Jokingly, Justice Ssekaana seriously responded to Mabirizi saying, “ Who lied to you Mr Mabirizi, you thought that you can go away with it without my heavy response. You man, I’m physically fit and with one punch, I can send you kissing the ground,” Justice Ssekaana assured Mabirizi.
As he was walking back to his chambers, he asked Mabirizi to never again think that he can match him on anything on earth.
Justice Ssekaana’s bodyguard followed his principal with confidence that even without his presence, Mabirizi who always boasts of being a street lawyer is not fit enough to jump and kick his face as he always threatens.
This website recently reported how Mabirizi boasted of causing panic in the Court of Appeal building when he threatened Justice Ssekaana when he was passing by him in the corridors as his bodyguard looked on scared.
Justice Ssekaana and Justice Simon Peter Kinobe are the fittest judicial officers and are always seen in the morning and evening exercising in the gym.
Mabirizi also exercises on Kampala streets.
Mabirizi and Justice Ssekaana’s troubles started in 2020, when Mabirizi together with Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago asked Justice Ssekaana to recuse himself from the matter challenging Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama’s appointment as the chairperson of the Electoral Commission
Justice Ssekaana admitted that before being appointed a judge of the High Court, he was a private lawyer to the Electoral Commission but he made an oath to give justice without fear or favour and dismissed the application.
As a result, Mabirizi exchanged bitter words with Ssekaana and he even survived imprisonment on contempt of Court charges.
After a few months, Justice Ssekaana sentenced Mabirizi to serve eighteen months in prison on another contempt of court charge.
