Moses Kariisa Karangwa who was defeated by Microfinance minister Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo on the position of the national vice chairperson in charge of Buganda on National Resistance Movement (NRM) top organ the Central Executive Committee (CEC) claimed that part of his defeat was caused by former lands junior minister and also Kayunga district Woman Member of Parliament Aida Erios Nantaba
Karangwa alleged that Nantaba connived with minister Kasolo to spread damaging propaganda that he is a land grabber and that he was grilled by President Museveni during the nomination of CEC aspirants before CEC.
The allegations further state that the President confirmed to Kalangwa that he is under investigation led by Lt Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso the Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of defence and security.
However, Karangwa insists that this is not true.
As Karangwa is fighting for his political survival in Kayunga district where he is the NRM chairperson and mobilizing his supporters to stage a demonstration against Dr Tanga Odoi the party’s Electoral Commission for failing to declare him the winner in the just concluded NRM national delegates conference, he has informed that Museveni has assigned Nantaba with special duties in Kayunga.
According to highly placed sources close to Nantaba, she recently held a private meeting with president Museveni and reported to him how mafias in the Ministry of Defence are frustrating children and dependants of the fallen soldiers to get their benefits.
Sources said that Museveni directed Nantaba to look for all those children of the fallen soldiers and help them get the necessary documents to get the benefits ther are entitled to.
He also assigned a State House staff to help Nantaba and make sure that those children benefit from the services of their fathers and mothers.
Nantaba is already on the ground coordinating these children on how to get the required documents from different government offices and they are supposed to conclude everything before the end of September 2025
The assignment has boosted Nantaba’s political mobilization as she prepares to faceoff with Karangwa’s daughter Jackquline Birungi the former Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Buikwe district.
In the recent countrywide Parish Development Model (PDM) tour, when he reached Kayuga, Museveni and First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni watched a scuffle as Karangwa’s men tried to stop Nantaba from accessing the venue where the President was. It took the intervation of the President who ordered that Nantaba be given a microphone to address the gathering
Nantaba used the opportunity to report to the president how Karangwa and his men are grabbing land in Kayunga and leaving thousands of people homeless.
The President promised to investigate the matter.
