Police at Bweyogerere fought to save Kira Municipality National Resistance Movement (NRM) Member of Parliament candidate Daniel Kananura from angry service providers who wanted to lynch him for failing to pay their money in millions of shillings.
Kananura assigned Muhammad Kasolo a former bodaboda 2010 boss with over Shs10m to manage the transportation of his supporters from around Kira Municipality to Wakiso district Electoral Commission office where he was going to be nominated from.
They were also supposed to accompany him back to Bweyogerere playground where he was going to hold his first political rally in his bid to defeat the incumbent Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda
Kananura assigned a one Mia Juma with another Shs10m to buy food and drinks for the supporters and according to one of his henchmen, he told Juma to buy two cows and 600kg of rice but he only bought meat in kilograms from a butcher and not more than 200kg of rice.

“He was shocked to see people complaining about food and drinks when the number was half of what he was expecting. But he promised them that campaigns have just started, they will eat next time and they accept because he always gives them money and food whenever he organizes such functions. It is the reason he secured the NRM ticket,” his henchman told Ono Bwino.
However, immediately after addressing his first rally, as he stepped into his car, he was surrounded by angry taxi drivers and bodaboda riders who were demanding for their money claiming that Kasolo only bought for them fuel and told them to go to Kananura to give them their par diem of between Shs100,000 and Shs50,000 respectively
“At first, he thought it was a joke. He told the angry drivers to look for Kasolo to sort them out arguing that he had given him all their money. But when he tried to call Kasolo’s phone number, it was off. He sensed that he was in danger and he signaled his bodyguard who helped him to run to the nearby police to take cover,” Kananura’s henchman said.
To control the situation, as angry people surrounded the police station, police hid him in their cells while they tried to calm the people down. Police later used tear gas to disperse them.
Sources close to Kananura dosclosed that he was shocked when he checked on his mobile money account and establish that he had only a balance of Shs12000 yet his pockets had dried up.
He was escorted by police to his home at midnight and since then, all his phone numbers are off after angry tax drivers and bodaboda riders in Kireka, Bweyogerere and Kira threatened to lynch him once the set sights on him.
One of his henchmen told this website that his boss is very desperate because he has no money for campaigns and the Shs50m he used in organizing his nomination was got from his godfathers Micheal Mawanda the Patriotic League (PLU) of Uganda Chief political mobilizer and Michael Nuwagira aka Toyota one of the young brothers to president Museveni and Gen Salim Saleh
Few weeks before his nomination, Kananura confirmed to this website that he was arrested and detained by one of the security agencies in the country on allegations related to fraudulent gold deals but he was saved by his godfathers
Since Kananura declared his interest to unseat Ssemujju, he has been splashing money in Kira. This forced the incumbent to plant spies on him to establish where he was getting all the money he was spending from and who is behind him.
“I was told that Kananura is one of the house boys to Museveni’s young brothers. Now that is where we have reached. They are bringing their house boys also to rule us,” Ssemujju told this website
Kananura boasted that Ssemujju should prepare his legal team because he will be defeat him.
However, according to reports on the ground, Ssemujju is still leading, lawyer George Musisi of the National Unity Platform (NUP) is the second the Kananura is still in third place.
