President Museveni has confirmed that he is going to be the guest of honour while Buganda Kingdom clan heads launch the beginning of the building of their multibillion commercial building on their land opposite Bulange the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom.

According to Omutaka Kyadondo Mbugalamula the Nvuma clan head, the launch will take place on 20th of July 2025 and they will start with the thanksgiving prayers, then the President and his team will inspect the entire land and other business taking place on the land. He will finalise the day with launching of the building process which will be done by UPDF engineering bridge.

The development comes after the clan heads declined to honour Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s orders to surrender the land titles and other documents concerning the said land which president Museveni bought for them in 2023 after meeting them in State House Entebbe.

Kabaka through his premier Charles Peter Mayiga wrote to omutaka Ssalongo Augustine Kizito Mutumba the Buganda Kingdom clan heads council speaker demanding for the said documents with immediate effect and the said letter was delivered to omutaka Yusuf Mbirozankya who led the delegation that met with the president and negotiated the land deal.

Mutumba told this website that their council passed a resolution to take all the documents concerning that land to Kabaka but the problem was that the resolution was issued when Kabaka was abroad receiving medication.

However, clan heads declined to surrender the said documents as Kabaka directed, claiming that their land will be grabbed and taken under the management of Buganda Land Board yet it is not owned by Buganda Kingdom.

“Before going to the president to ask for that land, we pleaded with the Kabaka to give us land at Mengo but Buganda Land Board denied us access to the land and Kabaka decline our prayers to meet him and report our issues. Now we lobbied and the president accepted our prayers and bought for us land. But they want to also take it, it will not happen,” one of the clan heads said.

Both Kabaka Mutebi and Mayiga protested the clan heads meeting with Museveni insisting that the meeting is aimed at weakening Buganda Kingdom leadership.
