Kampala city Resident City Commissioner (RCC) and other National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders are mobilizing and preparing all Kampala city sex workers to have a gathering with President Museveni before he concludes his presidential campaign at Kololo independent ground.
Ono Bwino can exclusively report that all deputy RCC leaders by Moses Ariho of Lubaga Division have been mobilizing sex workers to organize themselves by streamlining their leadership structures so that they register their SACCOS to benefit from the President’s initiative of giving several communities money for development like he did to bodaboda riders, mechanics and garage operators, tax operators, traditional herbalists among others.
Ono Bwino online reached out to two deputy RDCs who are mobilizing the event and they admitted that the preparations are in high gear. They divulged that it is not going to be the first time for the President to give sex workers money citing the 2024 when the President gave Shs100m to sex workers in Mbale.
Even though they declined to go on record, claiming that the matter is very sensitive and it can be used against their candidate, they insisted that the President wants the votes of the sex workers.
“The President is the head of the country. He is not a President for religious people only but even those they call sinners, so he has the obligation of convincing them to abandon that illegal practice so that they also join the money economy,” one of the RDCs told this website.
However, other NRM leaders especially local leaders claim that the ongoing mobilization is among the money schemes which have been organized by political dealers to get some money from the President especially during the ongoing campaigns.
They based their argument on the ongoing verbal exchange between Yiga Kisakyayesu the Gomba district Assistant Resident District Commissioner and Hallen Seku the Commissioner, National Secretariat for Patriotism over the recently concluded meeting between the President and the mechanics and garage operators
Yiga alleged that Seku wanted to snatch his project so that he is assigned by the President to supervise the money and other materials worth billions of shillings which the President promised to give the mechanics.
He insisted that he will not accept Seku’s plot because he is the one who initiated the project.
This website understands that each NRM Division and district chairperson and other party mobilizers were given Shs5m to mobilize mechanics and transport them to Kololo to have a meeting with the President.
The mechanics confirmed that they were not given money in cash even though they were transported to the venue and given food and drinks.
Ono Bwino online further understands that local NRM leaders are also strategizing on meeting the President so that they report to him that the mobilization money he promised to give them did not reach them because some party leaders are stealing campaign funds.
Richard Todwong the NRM Secretary General recently guided in writing that all party local leadership should be given Shs10,000 in every mobilization meeting and chairpersons of the local committees should keep records for proper accountability.
