This investigative website can exclusively report that president Museveni who is also the appointing authority has ordered for fresh guidance on the suitable person to be assigned with the responsibilities of heading the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) to replace Justice Jane Frances Abodo who was recently appointed as the Principal Judge.
Highly placed State House sources told Ono Bwino online that President Museveni prefers to assign the role to Justice Jane Kajuga of the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court as Justice Abodo’s replacement even though Justice Simon Peter Kinobe of the Civil Division of the High Court is also lobbying for the same job.
However, sources claim that they were shocked when Museveni directed his inner intelligence to guide him on the suitable person to assign the responsibility of being the country’s Chief prosecutor. This time he added Justice Alice Komuhangi Khaukha of the Crimes War Division of the High Court.
“Serious competition is between Justice Komuhangi and Justice Kajuga, it will be a surprise if the president sends Kinobe’s name to parliament to be vetted for the job,” a source said.

Sources added that Justice Kajuga has the backing from the Chief Justice Owiny Dollo who appointed her as the Acting Principal Judge replacing Justice Dr Flavian Zeija who was appointed the Deputy Chief Justice. On the other hand, Justice Kinobe has strong backing from his close friend the Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka
Even though Museveni appointed Justice Abodo as the Principal Judge, Justice Kajuga is still holding the security detail of the Office of the Principal Judge though she shifted from sitting at the Criminal Division of the High Court where the Office of the Principal Judge is and went back to her chambers at the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court building opposite the ministry of health headquarters in Wandegeya Kampala city
Before being appointed judges of the high court, both Justice Komuhangi and Kajuga were celebrated prosecutors in the ODPP. It should be remembered that the pair gave city lawyers Paul Rutisya and Geoffrey Nangumya a bloody nose in the murder case against city businessman Desh Kananura
Even though Justice Joseph Murangira exonerated the accused persons, the public celebrated the two ladies on how they handled the complicated murder case.
Justice Kajuga was also the spokesperson of the Office of the DPP and held other positions which included being a Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, overseeing critical portfolios such as International Cooperation, Extraditions, and Mutual Legal Assistance.
On the other hand, Justice Komuhangi together with top female prosecutor Samalie Wakholi are remembered on how they successfully prosecuted the murder trial of city businessman Eria Bugembe Kasiwukira and they scored conviction against Sandra Nakungu and her boyfriend policeman Ashraf Jaden even though Justice Wilson Museni Musalu exonerated Sarah Nabikolo the widow to the diseased
