Kawempe Division Chief State Attorney shocked the Courtroom when she accused private lawyers of raiding her office without her knowledge and trying to use it as a hunting ground for women to vibe.

While shouting on top of her voice, Sarah Sharon Nabulya refuted the submissions made by defence lawyers that the reason why their matter was delaying to be heard was because of her frequent absence from her office situated in Kanyanya in Kawempe Division, a Kampala city suburb.

Patrick Osude, one of the defence lawyers objected to Nabulya’s prayer to kick-off the hearing of the criminal matter against his client insisting that the matter cannot start without them receiving evidence that the State is going to rely on while prosecuting the matter.

The presiding magistrate Damalie Agumasiimwe was shocked to learn that Nabulya had brought in Court a British man who is a complainant in the matter to testify without disclosure. She put her to task to explain why she did not disclose when the matter was brought in Court in 2024.

Nabulya defended herself that the defence lawyers and their clients have been playing delaying tactics by not coming to receive the disclosure. She was interjected by the presiding magistrate who informed her that lawyers have addresses where she should serve them the disclosures.

Osude re-battled Nabulya’s submissions telling Court that on three occasions, he drove to Nabulya’s office and spent hours waiting for the disclosure only to be informed by the girl at the reception that the Chief State Attorney is usually not in the office.

He advised him to come back another day which he did.

He was opposed by other defence lawyers  which pissed off Nabulya and she shouted at them to stop malicing her with allegations of not being in office and not working.

“No, your worship, I cannot let it go like that, how can a lawyer tell such a liar that I’m not working when I reach office at 6am and leave at 7pm. They want me to lose my job because of their tactics. I know very well, they have private arrangements with my female staff. Because I know everything, they even wanted me to intervene in their love relationship,” a furious Nabulya said.

Osude also lost his temper and blasted Nabulya as a poorly brought up woman who speaks nonsense. This annoyed Nabulya the more and she told Osude that she was well brought up by her parents unlike him who was taught by women on ‘Emizigo’.

As Court attendants enjoyed and cheered while enjoying the drama, the presiding magistrate pleaded with the lawyers to calm down noting that they were embarrassing themselves before the public.

But Nabulya was still fuming; She insisted that her witness was supposed to testify at all cost because in the coming days, she was traveling back to United Kingdom.

She was advised by the presiding magistrate that her witness can testify via zoom, a move she protested insisting that when he testifies via zoom, the defence lawyer will use it as a technicality to secure a victory against her.

She also wondered where court was going to get the equipment to use during zoom proceedings.

“Okay, the judiciary of Uganda provides us with internet. So, we will use my phone or laptop to conduct the zoom proceedings, don’t worry. It is not going to be the first time that this to being done, and by the way, it is advisable,” the magistrate said.

But Nabulya insisted on telling the witness not to accept the postponement but insist on testifying.

“ Even in the United Kingdom, he will be doing his personal work, you mean, he will not eat or sleep because of the matter,” Nabulya insisted.

The British man also supported her lawyer and accused the suspect of playing delaying tactics so that he loses interest in the case and it is dismissed.

He explained that whenever the matter is fixed, he uses a lot of money to travel from Kasese where he is staying to come to Court

Even though Nabulya and her client insisted, the presiding magistrate directed Bruce Konjere another State Attorney who is handling the matter with Nabulya to proceed with the disclosure with the defence if the documents and other related evidence is ready which he did by sending it to him via WhatsApp and email

Suspects without lawyers also read their numbers to receive the disclosure as the magistrate overruled Nabulya who still accused Osude of being a corrupt person.

The matter was adjourned to 29th August, 2025 when the hearing will kick-off.
