This mighty Ono Bwino investigative website can exclusively report that Jordan Ssebuliba Kiwanuka who was appointed to manage the multibillion estate of radio one tycoon Mohan Musisi Kiwanuka has blocked Maria Nabasirye Kiwanuka the businessman’s second wife also the former finance, planning and economic development from accessing the estate’s bank accounts.
This reporter has established that immediately after executing the orders of the Court of Appeal which declared the businessman as unfit to run his multibillion empire, Ssebuliba filed execution extracts to the registry of the Court of Appeal, to Uganda Registration Service Bureau (URSB) and to all financial institutions informing them that Court had directed that changes be made in the management of the businessman’s empire and a new person had been appointed who is supposed to run all the affairs of the companies.
This website has established that all the tenants renting on the tycoon’s buildings in areas of Kololo, Naguru, Nakasero, Kampala Road, Munyonyo and other parts of the country have been informed in writing about the new changes and very soon Ssebuliba is going to summon all the top leaders of his father’s companies to brief them also on the new changes and also receive a brief on how the companies are being run.
Ono Bwino has further established that the said meeting will guide Ssebuliba on how to manage the companies as he plans to force Maria to submit the financial books for audit and explanation on how she has been running the estate since 2017.
Ssebuliba recently protested the move by the Court of Appeal Registrar to initiate mediations to solve the misunderstanding going on in the tycoon’s family between his first wife Beatrice Kavuma Kiwanuka’s children and those of Maria Kiwanuka.
According to a letter signed by Jane Magala the deputy registrar Court of Appeal who also doubles as the Constitutional Court, Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA), a Kampala’s leading law firm had asked for these mediations on behalf of Maria.
However, Ssebuliba personally wrote back to the Registrar assuring her that time for mediation expired because he severally pleaded with Maria and her lawyers led by Francis Buwule of Buwule, Mayiga and Company Advocates to sit down and solve their family disagreements but they declined until Court of Appeal sealed their grievances to save his father’s empire.
He also noted that the only time he has right now is to streamline his father’s empire and make sure that his legacy remains to benefit the next generation.
“I do not believe any mediation would change the declarations of the Court and as such see no purpose given the Respondent’s total inability to engage in any sort of discussion as counsel seems to purport. I therefore lodge my objection to any mediation proceedings,” Ssebuliba’s letter read in part.
He further challenged KAA lawyers and Odokel Opolot and company advocates who were claiming that were acting on behalf of his father to provide evidence that he is the one who instructed them to represent him in the said matter insisting that his father has no capacity to instruct lawyers and that the said lawyers are fraudulently using his father’s name to continue with unnecessary litigations and ridiculous unwarranted legal fees which burden his father’s estate.
It should be noted that Justice Cheborion Barishake who led the three justices of the Court of Appeal to declare that the businessman is not in his sound mind asked the Uganda Law Council to pick interest in and investigate the actions of senior lawyer Buwule for alleging that he received legal instructions to represent the tycoon in courts of law yet he himself told court that the man is not in his sound mind.
