Suzan Nsibirwa the Managing Director of the Nation Media Group Uganda has confirmed that the multimedia company has started the process of looking for the new Monitor Publication Limited Board Chairman upon announcing professor Samuel Sejjaaka’s retirement.

“The Board has undertaken a comprehensive recruitment process to identify a suitable successor to Prof. Sejjaaka, and further announcement will be made once these engagements are concluded,” Nsibirwa noted in her statement

Sejjaaka joined Monitor Publication in February 2022 and actively led the reconstitution of the Board of Directors and successfully recruited Nsibirwa as Nation Media Group Managing Director Uganda.

He was also very instrumental in transforming monitor publication from a legacy print media company to a fast-growing multimedia company.

During his leadership, Sejjaaka helped Monitor to keep its readers’ trust as they shaped the country’s social, political and economic agenda based on enriching its platforms with rich content through taking a bold stance on national issues where other media houses coiled their tails.

Even though the publication has severally annoyed those in power especially President Museveni who has on many occasions branded them as a bad paper, the readers have always said otherwise.

This website has established that during Sejjaaka’s leadership, Monitor has harvested millions of money from its online readers which in turn has attracted advertisers.

Prof Sejjaaka is a partner at Sejjaaka, Kawaase and Company, a Principal country team leader of MAT ABACUS business School and he is also a Board member and chairperson of different companies and organisations. These include: UAP Old Mutual Investment Group Uganda limited, Uganda Development Bank, Stanbic Bank Uganda, Nation Media Group and many others.

“His impact has extended beyond corporate boardrooms, as a lecturer, mentor, columnist and avid golfer, bringing the same dedication and thoughtfulness to these pursuits as he has to his board service,” Nsibirwa’s statement further reads.

This website has also established that acting on the advice of Sejjaaka, Nsibirwa has managed to face off with the ongoing financial challenges many media houses locally and internationally are going through which has led many to their graves.

Even though monitor is a private company, it keeps serving its readers daily even when its immediate competitor the New Vision combined its weekend papers into one citing financial challenges.
