This investigative website can exclusively report that that Mathias Mpuuga’s Democratic Front (DP) went back to the political drawing board after realizing that they have suffered a setback in their fight to defeat National Unity Platform’s Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya in the race to take over Kampala Central Division.
Rubongoya has already declared interest to contest in Kampala Central Division as it’s Member of Parliament (MP) replacing Muhammad Nsereko who has already announced that come 2026, he is going to test what it takes to challenge for the highest office in the land which is the presidency.
However, this website has established that Mpuuga assigned Kimanya-Kabonera legislator Dr Abed Bwanika, political activist Samuel Lubega Mukaku and former Lubaga North legislator Moses Kasibante to fight Rubongoya whom he accused of influencing the split between him and NUP Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) who at the pinnacle of their blossoming relationship appointed him as the Leader of Opposition in Parliament and also national deputy president in charge of Buganda.
Bwanika declared that even if it means abandoning his political campaigns to retain Kimanya-Kabonera seat, he will do it and camp in Kampala Central to de-campaign Rubongoya who he told to go back to his ancestral home in Ankole and contest there.

This website has also established that Mpuuga’s team zeroed on Moses Katabu the Kampala Central councillor at city hall whom they want to compromise so that he can abandon NUP and join their DF.
It is alleged they have already sent him emissaries who have assured him that they are ready to finance his political campaigns against Rubongoya.
“ Katabu has been using Mpuuga’s money in his early campaigns that is why he has printed a lot of posters in Kampala Central but now he no longer picks their phone calls or responds to their messages,” a close friend to Katabu revealed.
This website has established that last month, Bobi Wine summoned Katabu at his Magere home to a meeting which was attended by Rubongoya himself and the man from Gomba pleaded with Katabu not betray his political party which supported him in 2021 by joining the people who are fighting to see that their party is erased from the political parties map in Uganda.
Highly placed sources in NUP assured us that Katabu accepted Bobi Wine’s prayers and agreed to his proposal to contest for the position of Kampala Central Division mayor. He assured him that he will get the party ticket.
Bobi Wine also directed Rubongoya to compensate Katabu the money he has already spent in his early campaigns and also work with him.
This website has also established that Mpuuga’s team have now turned to Charles Musoke Sserunjogi the former Kampala Division mayor and discussions are ongoing to lure him into accepting their ticket to contest either against Rubongoya or Katabu who they accuse of eating their money and abandoning them with a lot of their secrets.
In Kampala Central, Rubongoya is expected to contest against Kampala senior minister Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, businessman Issa Ssekito among others.
