Last week, security raided National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters at Makerere Kavule and their training institution at Kamwokya in a joint operation which resulted into vandalization of their offices including that of the party principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) and properties worth millions of shillings and money in cash were confiscated and taken.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that the operation was very successful and they collected exhibits that are going to act as evidence once they place criminal charges against different individuals in courts of law.

However, Bobi Wine insisted that the operation have exposed president Museveni and he is scared of them.

He added that as NUP party leadership, they are ready for any charges that police wish to slap on them.

He advised them start with him because he is the overall commander of all the foot soldiers (his grassroot mobilizers and security personals) who they want to imprison.

The operation came days after Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu the party chief mobilizer and elder brother to Bobi Wine was kidnapped at Kubiiri Mulago roundabout and detained incommunicado until he was dropped near his home in Kyebando, Kawempe Division, Kampala city.

Security also kidnapped the party’s members of the independent electoral commission along Kampala-Masaka Road as they were returning from a burial in Kyotera.

Among them was their chairperson Mercy Walukamba, Alex Rovans Lwanyaga and Eddie Kayabula; others included Sharif Kiyemba, Rashid Kinobe, Samson Bongole and others.

Nyanzi and some party leaders who were later released told their boss Bobi Wine that during their detention, they were grilled to reveal his 2026 protest vote plan and why they were they training foot soldiers with army drills.

Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro the party deputy spokesperson who narrowly survived when Nyanzi was arrested claimed that Brig. Gen. Christopher Ddamulira the commandant of the police’s Crime Intelligence department led the joint operation which lasted almost three days.

The roads around NUP headquarters including the one that takes Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to her home, were sealed off.

Many claim that the operation resulted from a military like parade which NUP held at their party headquarters’.

During the parade, Bobi Wine and his wife Barbra Itungo Kyagulanyi inspected the parade as foot soldiers celebrated the birthday of their principal.

However, highly placed sources revealed to this investigative website that the operation has been in the pipeline from the day Bobi Wine declared that he is going to contest against Museveni come 2026.

Sources claim that national intelligence agencies immediately picked interest in Bobi Wine’s statements where he alleged that the 2026 election is going to be a protest vote and they have to do everything in their power to remove Museveni.

Since then, intelligence has been gathering information which guided their operation and a number of party leaders and foot soldiers will be arrested and charged in the courts of law.

“Nyanzi should know the game is still on and the long arm of the law will catche up with him anytime from now because we have evidence that he is the one behind the recruitment of young people from around the country and training them in political radicalism which is unacceptable,” one of the commanders of the country’s security agency told this reporter during the course of investigating this story.

He claims that after Bobi Wine discovered that security had successfully dismantled his radical foot soldiers, compromised others to join president Museveni’s government while the rest abandoned the political struggle by running into exile and those who stayed in the country decided to concentrate on their private businesses after being given amnesty by government and declaring never to work with Bobi Wine again, he decided with his party confidants to start fresh recruitment of energetic youths to work with them come 2026.

According to this security chief, Nyanzi was assigned to lead the recruitment through his Kunga mobilization drive and he was well facilitated to the extent that he was given branded cars with party colours and slogans to help his henchmen and women in the recruitment drive.

“We have all this information and their family members are ready to testify that boys and girls were misled that they were being recruited to be given well-paying jobs at NUP headquarters. Nyanzi always went there on the ground to talk to them and make sure that his men and women have recruited the people who will help them,” he added.

He added that after recruiting them, they were transported to Kampala for training at the party’s training institute in Kamwokya where they were taught lessons in political radicalism, party ideology and how to resist against the sitting government.

“After training them, they were given ranks according to their level of education and performance in class. Guided by their teachers, they were assigning authorities assigned them to different party departments especially in security and mobilization with the aim of spreading political radicalism among other citizens around the country,” a source said.

He claims that many were taken back to their home districts and others taken to other districts with plans that they will be very instrumental in deciding the party candidates come 2026 and they have already provided security to potential party candidates especially those vying to enter parliament under the supervision of a one Gen Gaza.

He said that those who performed well in security were assigned to work with Achilles Kivumbi while others sent to beef up Bobi Wine’s security were placed on the party payroll and given allowances.

“These boys are very organized I’m telling you; they have security communication like that of the President. When Bobi Wine is about to reach any venue on which they have been deployed, the commander on his convoy communicates through a radio call to the commander on the ground to be on standby and once the communication reaches, the situation turns tense as that for president Museveni,” a source said.

He added that when Bobi Wine enters the venue, people have to identify themselves before they are allowed to enter the venue and the foot soldiers make sure that they inspect the entire venue before he touches base taking action against anyone they deem as a threat to the principal.

He says it is the reason why journalists are put in one place and they have to wear their media houses identification cards to stop strangers from taking pictures and filming the party bosses and other supporters as it is done when president Museveni is at any venue.

When Bobi Wine is about to conclude his speech at the party headquarters’, the head of his security communicates to other security commanders to command their boys to clear the way and no one is allowed to stand in his way when he is moving and no speeches are allowed once the principal has finished delivering his message.

“ We have information that Bobi Wine is going to increase the number of boys who he moves with in his car from the four he had during the 2021 presidential elections to six and they have started wielding metals on it to guard him. It means they will not allow security provided by the country’s Electoral Commission to protect him during the 2026 presidential political campaigns,” a source said.

The source added that they have to dismantle Bobi Wine’s newly recruited foot soldiers’ group early before the 2026 political campaigns to avoid bloody incidents like the one that happened in 2021 which put the country in bad light internationally.

He added that the operations are still ongoing and people should not be scared of Toyota Hiace vehicles commonly known as Drones because they will be moving around picking people they claim are threatening national security for the safety of everyone.

However, Waiswa Mufumbiro the NUP deputy Spokesperson told off security and vowed that they will continue with their struggle until they take power.
