After serving one term as Nakawa lord councillor on Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago’s Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) council, former sports journalist with monitor newspaper and Bukedde television Innocent Tegusulwa has kicked off secret political campaign to replace Regina Bakitte as Nansana Municipality mayor.
According to reliable sources close to Tegusulwa, the ‘Tolimwavu mutwe gwo gwe mwavu’ presenter recently completed his residential house in Nansana municipality and since then he has been spending much of his time in the area meeting National Unity Platform (NUP) grassroot mobilizers and leaders seeking for their political support come 2026.
Tegusulwa is among the few KCCA councillors who has fully served their term of office without abandoning their duties for greener pastures abroad.
Around ten KCCA councillors who travelled abroad have started returning back into the country to start early political campaigns.

However, sources said that Tegusulwa has to fight tooth and nail to make sure that he secures the party ticket given that Bakitte is still strong both on the ground and at the party headquarters even though she was a strong supporter of Norbert Mao the president general of the Democratic Party.
