Maverick Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has confirmed to this website that a few weeks back, her elderly mother summoned him at her home along Bombo Road to discuss matters concerning their family.
Ssemujju explained that given that he has a lot of respect to his mother, he took the summoning very serious and drove to his mother’s place.
He narrated that when he reached her home, she asked him to explain to her what his grandchildren told her about the threats on his life by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of the Défense Forces(CDF) through his social media platforms.
“The other time, Museveni’s son wrote on his social media platforms that he is going to kill me like a chicken thief, for me I took it lightly but my mother took it very serious and she summoned me to explain to her because she knows what people in power can do, she was present and full of understanding during the Milton Obote governments when people were killed like animals,” Ssemujju said.
He added that when he was still severely arrested and imprisoned on charges related to political activism, his wife Faridah Nganda visited him in prison and pleaded with him to be very careful because they still have young children.
Recently, Ssemujju said that he also received a phone call from his friends in government warning him to stay away from making stubbing statements against the person of Gen Salim Saleh noting that the big man is angry with him.
“I’m not like Dr Kizza Besigye who can sacrifice his life for this country, he left a well-paying job in Nairobi Kenya to go to the bush to fight in the liberation war with Museveni who is currently imprisoning him. Dr Besigye is in his league because by the time he returned from the bush, he found his wife married to another man and they had three children. Imagine I leave my Faridah because of this country!” Ssemujju added.
He added that in Uganda, it is only Dr Besigye and President Museveni who understand the power of being a president and it is the reason why Museveni fights hard to protect it much as Besigye moving leaps and bounds to the extent of putting his life on line including going on hunger strike to get to power.
He explained others are just joking and are using politics to enrich themselves.
He gave the example of some opposition legislators who are paid monthly salaries and allowances and are given cars to act as if they are oppossing Museveni government and it is the reason why they fight each other to be in parliament instead of fighting to change leadership.
