Caleb Alaka a personal lawyer and handler to troubled former speaker of parliament Annet Anita Among has confirmed that they are working on a detailed statement on the status of the ongoing investigation against his client.

Alaka insists that there are many falsehoods being given to the public which is placing the person of Bukedea district Woman Member of Parliament in bad light.

Ono Bwino can exclusively report that lawyers and handlers are detailing the exhibits that joint detectives from different security agencies recovered from Among’s homes in Nakasero, Kigo, Bukedea and other parts of the country plus from her former office at parliamentary building.

Sources disclosed that the lawyers are working on a statement denying the ongoing allegations both in mainstream and online stating that billions of monies in different currents including dollars, shilling, Euro, Pound, fetishes, illegal guns, luxurious cars and clothes were recovered from her homes, offices and they are set to be used as exhibits against her when criminal proceedings are instituted against her in courts of law.

Fred Mukasa Mbidde another lawyer and handler to Among said that they have to move very fast so that they are on top of the game to save their client even if it means engaging Museveni to pardon her as he has been doing to other government officials suspected to have tampered with taxpayers’ money and annoying him as a person.

Mbidde the national Vice President general of the Democratic Party (DP) said that Among through her handlers should engage religious and cultural leaders from Teso to seek the audience of the president so that she is pardoned.

“This should be done before next week so that it helps her to be accommodated on the cabinet list. We expect the President to announce his cabinet next week but as things look, if nothing is done, Among our mother is likely to miss out from the cabinet list,” Mbidde said.

Another option Among has according to Mbidde is to declare her presidential ambitions so that people understand that she is being persecuted on politically motivated criminal charges.

Mbidde confirmed that Among did not expect the troubles she is currently going through adding that President Museveni surprised her with the accusations of illicit accumulation of wealth in the presence of religious leaders.

“She was not prepared to defend herself on those allegations which the President placed on her based on intelligence reports in the presence of religious leaders. Surely, she was betrayed by her close team and she is regretting bringing some people close to her,” Mbidde said.

Sources told Ono Bwino that days to her troubles, Among was bitter with her media team led by Chris Obore the parliament’s Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Joseph Sabiiti his office spokesperson, Dominic Bukenya his official photographer for allowing bad publicity against her at a time when she needed a clean reputation to defeat Norbert Mao the outgoing Minister for Justice and Constitution Affairs who was threatening her juicy job.

Ono Bwino has learnt that Obore and Sabiiti tried to compromise the system to block Weekend monitor from publishing the Rolls-Royce story but the newspaper leadership stood their ground and the story was published.

Mbidde wondered how Among surprisingly attacked in a move that is threatening her political career and financial empire yet she was holding a very influential office in government which has the capacity to receive all intelligence information of the goings in the country.

Sources said that a few months back, Museveni established that Among had penetrated his intelligence system and security and was controlling 80% of the district police commanders, intelligence officers and Resident District Commissioners (RDCs)

She was also receiving intelligence reports and issuing orders to shield her people in different parts of the country especially during the election.

However, upon some of them learning that the President was not happy with what they were doing, they slowly cut communication with Among and it is one of the reasons why the attack surprised.

Ono Bwino has also learnt that there was a lot of infighting among staff working in Among’s speakership office which forced her to shift some of them from parliamentary building to Kampala Kingdom which parliament is renting from city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia.

Sources said that Among’s enemies mighty have used the said infighting to penetrate her team and get her secret dealings including her alleged presidential ambition even though she publicly denied having plans for the highest office in the country saying she will do whatever she can to see that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) succeeds his father Gen Museveni.

Even though Alaka is struggling to save Among, Gen Muhoozi warned him to be careful and even threatened to arrest him for defending corrupt people who steal taxpayers’ money for their own enrichment.

“Private lawyers representing the corrupt against the state…will face consequences themselves,” Gen Muhoozi stated on his alleged X handle.

He further boasted of how they captured the Rolls-Royce saying, “It’s under our control. We shall auction it and recover the funds of the state.”

Alaka is a criminal and constitutional law giant who saved Among from the 2021 election petition where her opponents were challenging the way she went through unopposed.
