Kampala City lawyer, Simon Peter Kakama is on the spot for allegedly fraudulently acquiring a land title.
The family of the late Yusuf Gogo has accused lawyer Kakama of Kakama and Company Advocates of fraudulently acquiring their two plots of prime land in the upscale Naguru in Nakawa Division a Kampala city suburb.
Family members who reported the case to Jinja Road Police Station claim that Kakama connived with one of their family members to forge a purchase agreement to purport that he bought the said land on two plots whereas not.
According to documents, the case against Kakama is registered as CRB 444/2025 and was registered on June 20,2025.
The family have now appealed to President Museveni and the Disciplinary Committee of the Uganda Law Council to intervene and prevail over the errant lawyer so that he returns the land title.
When contacted, Kakama, a resident of Namuli Zone, Rubaga Division declined to comment on the allegations, noting that he will only explain his side when he personally meets this reporter physically.
He said that to discuss such a sensitive matter on the phone was not good.
The other accused persons are family member who include: Juma Bogere Gogo a businessman and a resident of Katale ll, Joseph Lubega a resident of Namasuba Stella Zone in Makindye Sabagabo in Wakiso District and Joy Karuhanga a resident of Naguru- Katale.
According to documents, the group is also accused of committing offence of obtaining money by false pretense which is contrary to Section 285 of the Penal Code Act.
According to police documents seen by this reporter, they state that in May 2020 in Kampala District, with intent to defraud, Bogere, Lubega and Karuhanga obtained money worth Shs300m from Amyn Shamsy by falsely pretending that they were selling him land comprised in FRV KCCA 458 Folio 5 on plots 43 and 45 of Naguru – Katale in the Kampala District whereas not.
When contacted, Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Oweyesigire could not comment on the matter.
He said in a phone interview that he needed time to consult Jinja Road Police station but by press time he had not yet got back to us.
