Ono Bwino can exclusively report that Mukono district has been placed on security hotspot radar after intelligence reports accused some National Unity Platform (NUP) bosses of hiring criminal gangs to secure political supremacy in the district especially during the 2026 general elections.

Highly placed security sources told this website that intelligence reports recommended that security bosses should intervene and save the situation before bloodshed in the region adding that a number of NUP foot soldiers are scared for their lives and have decided to go into hiding because of the constant fear fueled by political divisions.

Sources said that all hell broke loose when the current Mukono district Woman Member of Parliament Hanifa Nabukeera declared war on Mukono Municipality legislator Betty Nambooze claiming that she was the reason why NUP denied her the party ticket to contest again and instead it was given to Sheilah Dravilla Amaniyo.

To secure a proper revenge on Nambooze, Nabukeera decided to contest against her for the position of Mukono Municipality MP using the independent ticket but she was badly defeated.

Security sources claim that the ongoing security threat resulted from the hot campaigns where both camps hired goons to provide security to them and also protect their votes at the election day.

“During campaigns, supporters from both sides warned that they will revenge after winning, as a result, security is investigating claims that Nambooze’s boys have already started hunting down Nabukeera’s supporters who were threatening them during the campaigns,” a source said

According to sources, among those in hiding include Kenneth Munghono alias Airforce who is a former commander Mukono Municipality foot soldiers and Rogers Bazanya the outgoing deputy speaker Mukono Municipality.

Others have been forced to relocate from their homes in Mukono to undisclosed locations following threats on their lives.

Sources named some those in hiding as Ssebaduka alias commander Z, Fred Kiyimba who was the Mukono central division aspirant councillor, Rita Nandyose women elected councillor Nsube Kauga ward of Nabukeera, Hajji Luqman Seggayi, Ssalongo Semusambwa of Kagala cell, Nyenje ward who was supporting former Mukono district chairperson Peter Bakaluba Mukasa

“Some of them deserted their families and business because of endless threats, they think that their political opponents might attack their families,” a security operative said.

He added that both camps have been attacking each other. He cited the clash that happened on 17th of December 2025, at around 1820hours in Sonde cell Misindye ward Goma Division Mukono Municipality.

In this incident, Nambooze’s camp collided with that of Nabukeera which resulted in a nasty fight.

According to a source, Nambooze’s Gang group code named United Freedom Fighters Commanded by a one Zephaniah Ssebaduka alias commander Z, JK alias Land force and Phillip Kigwana attacked the camp of Nabukeera where a one Kasim Ssebudde alias Kunta was badly beaten.

Sources claim that the fights during the campaigns were as a result of accusations made by Nabukeera’s camp accusing  Nambooze’s camp of defacing their candidate’s posters.

The development comes at a time when a number of NUP supporters are currently in prison on charges related to terrorism and inciting violence.  Among them include the party’s deputy presidents Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, Dr Lina Zedriga and others

Their party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) is on run in fear of being arrested and charged with what he termed as fabricated charges even though government insists that they have no interest in arresting him.
