Exclusively speaking to Ono Bwino, John Kabanda the president of the Federation of Uganda Traders Association (FUTA) confirmed to us that he has instructed his lawyers to take legal action against Musoke Nagenda the chairperson of Kampala City Traders Association(KACITA) for defaming him that he had an affair with Kampala City and Metropolitan Minister Hajjat Minsa Kabanda.
A furious Kabanda revealed that he has forwarded the audio and video recordings to his lawyers to beef up his case because Musoke clearly defamed him before hundreds of traders in Kisenyi market in Central Division of Kampala city that he is in love with the minister.
“What I can assure you is that Musoke is going to pay for what he has said against me, I have ignored him for a long period time. He has been telling traders that I am a mafia, very corrupt, uneducated and now he has poked his nose in my marriage. I have to fight to protect my family. You know very well and covered the function when I was legalising my marriage with my wife and we have children, so Musoke cannot play with my family,” Kabanda fumed.
He added that he is ready to testify before court to Pin Musoke by narrating to court that he made the defamatory statements when he was trying to convince traders in the city not to attend the function he organized last week wher Minister Kabanda was the guest of honour.

Kabanda explain that his problem with Musoke started when he declined to take the offer Musoke was giving him to replace Hajji Isa Ssekito as KACITA spokesperson after assuring him that Ssekito was ready to leave the office for him since he had recommended him to represent KACITA at Private Sector Foundation Uganda.
Sources among the traders told this website that Musoke is bitter with Minister Kabanda for fuelling FUTA association rise to power among traders with the aim of weakening KACITA and it is the reason why whenever traders’ leadership meets President Museveni, she makes sure that Kabanda speaks to the President and always defends him as a very patriotic Ugandan.
“We know Kabanda’s FUTA is funded by minister Kabanda and she is using him as a vehicle to mobilize support for her to win Kampala Central Division Member of Parliament seat. She has also introduced him to officials in the Ministry of Trade who are also funding him to weaken to voices of the common trader,” one of the leaders in KACITA disclosed.
However, when contacted, Moses Lwegaba the FUTA spokesperson confirmed that their FUTA leadership is bridging the gap between government and traders and they are very sure that their cooperation will solve the misunderstandings between the two parties especially on issues like EFRIS and taxation.
He further admitted that their association has received three motor vehicles from government and minister Kabanda has helped them run the activities of uniting traders countrywide including market vendors.
He added that very soon, President Museveni is going to meet them for further discussion on how they can promote and benefit from trade.
When minister Kabanda met FUTA leadership at his Mutundwe home, he confirmed that she received the defamation message made against her by Musoke.
“Musoke said that I’m having an affair with Kabanda! Okay, why is he bothered with our relationship, are we kids. I will continue working with Kabanda to help traders in the city. If that will kill Musoke, let him die,” Minister Kabanda said while FUTA leaders clapped for her.
