National Resistance Movement (NRM) party leadership at the secretariat are panicking after their national chairperson who also doubles the president of the country kicked off investigations into allegations that they mismanaged the billions of shillings he sent to Kawempe North to help the party candidate Faridah Nambi to defeat National Unity Platform’s Erias Luyimbazi Nalukoola.
In his communication over the weekend after the controversial by-election, Museveni admitted that there were mistakes made by his NRM people who failed to reach out to the common people during campaigns to tell them about the huge achievements their government has made so that their candidate can be voted to win the election.
Exclusively speaking to this investigative website, seasoned journalist also doubles the Butambala district Resident Commissioner Hajji Ahmed Katerega Musaazi supported Museveni’s narrative insisting that there were mistakes made by NRM bosses that resulted in their candidate’s defeat.
Katerega revealed that Museveni released billions funds to help their candidate but the money was mismanaged by the top party officials which affected their candidate to the extent that she failed to print enough posters to cover the entire area.
“I was there and I saw how our candidate Nambi struggled financially; can you imagine that she failed to even reach some areas because of logistics! So, I welcome the president’s proposal to investigate the causes of our candidate’s defeat,” Musaazi said.
This website has further established that among the people under investigation are security bosses who were given money to facilitate security personal especially buying for them food plus per diem of Shs50,000 which was allocated to each security person. Inside sources reveal that security bosses entered a deal with a certain restaurant in Wandegeya who served security personal food at Shs25000 per person and the balance was pocketed by the bosses.
This website has also got information that the NRM bosses at the secretariat have summoned all Nambi’s agents and campaign managers to establish whether they have enough evidence that can help their lawyers to institute election petition against Nalukoola and the independent electoral commission as the party’s top organ the Central Executive Committee (CEC) directed.
Katerega also accused party bosses of acting against Nambi claiming that many declined to campaign for her and only come on the day president Museveni rallied supports for her and this is because of the internal fights among themselves.
“I can confirm that some bosses at the Secretariate are very happy with Nambi’s defeat because Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja was there campaigning for her win would be a bonus on her political profile maybe it threatened some people because if Nambi had won, it would be a bonus for Nabbanja but with her losing, given that Nabbanja fully participated, the president will now look at her as a loser,” he said.

He added that there was another group fighting the person of Rosemary Sseninde NRM’s director for mobilization and they wanted to expose her before the president as very weak and that her candidate who she presented cannot even win the political area where she was born.
This group calculated that the president can base on that ground to dismiss her noting that such internal fighting costs the party in the said elections.
Katerega was supported by Abdulnoor Kyamundu a political don at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) who told this website that the heavy deployment and violence exhibited against civilians was intentional to annoy the voters so as to vote against Nambi.
“Let me tell you, Nambi is a daughter to the historical Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo who is among the elders who are against the younger people who believe in Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the chairperson of the Patriotic League of Uganda. So, I think those young boys wanted to send a message to elders who are against them that they are in the control of the country and that they are the ones who can make them win or lose. I’m sure CEC members got the message loud and clear that’s why they resolved in their meeting to investigate why their candidate was defeated,” Kyamundu said.
Mubiru Njuuki a political commentator insists that Museveni should understand that people under the control of the country’s security lack the skills he has been using during elections and if he is not involved, NRM is likely to lose more in the coming elections because voters in Buganda are fearful that security might unleash violence against them.
Nambi insists that her defeat was as a result of the violence that took place during the campaigns. She wondered why it was done and pleaded that investigations be done.
