National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadre and also the Butambala district Resident District Commission (RDC) Ahmed Kateregga Musaazi has revealed that his party will not look on as National Unity Platform (NUP) is recruiting and mobilizing violent youth groups to be used against their political opponents come 2026 general elections.
In an exclusive phone interview with this website, Musaazi boasted that NRM through their national chairman who also doubles as the president of Uganda are the masters of violence.
He warned the leading opposition political party not to take that route in their political maneuvers because they will be badly defeated.
He revealed that as the threats against their candidates are mounting, they have also started thinking about recruiting youths who will guard their people against NUP’s violence so as to protect their wins in the coming elections.
“You know very well that most of our supporters and voters are old people, especially here in Buganda. In the 2021 elections, they were threatened by NUP youths and many didn’t vote because they were very scared, we will not allow that to happen again, we shall form our people to provide security to our voters,” Musaazi said.
Musaazi, a celebrated veteran political journalist narrated how his party boss Museveni mastered the art of violence and properly understands how to use it.
He warned NUP leadership not to provoke security agencies led by police who are doing their work of maintaining peace and order in the country.
He revealed that police, prisons services, army and intelligence services have recruited a number of personnel who are going to be deployed in the coming elections with orders of stopping whoever harbors wicked plans of burning the entire country down.
Musaazi’s warning comes days after the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba confirmed to the UPDF High Command that the country is facing urban criminality in some parts of Kampala Metropolitan.
He commanded the concerned commanders to take action against the said elements in the society.
President Museveni also ordered the army commanders not to allow political indiscipline in the country claiming that there are people who want to resort to intimidation and using bad language against their opponents which he warned will not be accepted.
Museveni, Gen Muhoozi and Musaazi’s warnings come months after NUP principle Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) issued an order to all party leadership to establish youths groups (egaali).
He explained that the role of these youth groups will be to protect their victory.
Security has already warned against this political move and a number of NUP youth leaders and those on Bobi Wine’s security have been arrested and charged with offences that Bobi Wine has branded as fabricated.
