Maverick Kira Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has admitted that his political career is under threat.
Ssemujju alleges that President Museveni and his son who is also the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and chairperson of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) have declared a political war on him come 2026.
“What we are seeing in the Kawempe North by-election is going to happen in all other parts of the country, especially here in Buganda come 2026. Museveni and his son want their people to be declared winners at all costs and meetings have been held in my constituency, in Nakawa East and Nakawa West and they are strategizing on how we shall be defeated,” Ssemujju said.
Ssemujju claims that the meetings that are being held to strategise on fighting him are chaired by former Kira Municipality mayor Mamerito Mugerwa at his Mamerito Hotel and other places in Kira.

He adds that in February this year, an order came from above instructing that political operation against him should be given to another person.
Highly placed sources in PLU confirmed to this website that Gen Muhoozi is not happy with Ssemujju and as a political pressure group, they are in talks with NRM leadership in Kira to front a one Dan Kananura to carry their flag and contest against Ssemujju who is likely to contest on an independent ticket.
Kananura is set to first declare that he is no longer a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
Sources disclosed that Kananura is already on ground and every week, he holds not less than three meetings in Ssemujju’s strong political base in Kasokoso which is a highly populated area with the majority of voters compared to other places Kira.
However, Mamerito’s team is not happy with the order from above for them to support Kananura claiming that they have been preparing ground for their son Isaac Ssekubuge who suffered a setback after his father’s death.
“You know very well the beef Mamerito has with Ssemujju the man has been moving from one radio station to another, holding public political rallies and branding him a thief and a mafia. Mamerito will be tempted to support Kananura because he is very sure that with the support of Muhoozi, Ssemujju will be defeated,” a source said.
Recently, Ssemujju confirmed to this website that his mother summoned him at her home and cautioned her to be very careful with his life.
Ssemujju has been for a long time attacking Museveni’s family claiming that they are running the country’s affairs like a family affair.
He even said that recently, he received a message from Gen Salim Saleh, president Museveni’s younger brother threatening to sue him for defamation.
Apart from orders from above threating his political career, Ssemujju is also receiving a lot of political pressure from National Unity Platform’s George Musisi who is a blue eyed boy to Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine).
Musisi’s political mobilization team is led by Kira Municipality mayor Julius Mutebi who is moving around telling party leaders in the area that Bobi Wine directed him to make sure that SSemujju is defeated in Kira and he is fronting Musisi not businessman Jimmy Lukwago who also interest in the seat.
Ssemujju has been in parliament since 2011 and when asked when is retiring from parliament, he told us that he will retire after the opposition defeats Museveni.
