Furious Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago has revealed that the newly appointed Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki and her deputy Benon Moses Kigenyi have started the route of exiting City Hall early after accepting to be compromised by KCCA junior minister Joseph Kabuye Kyofatogabye
“I warned Buzeki to be very careful because the chair she is sitting in right now has a dangerous insect which we call Embalabasa in Luganda and when you start playing and dealing with city mafias, it has to bite you as it did to Jenniffer Musisi Ssemakula, Dorothy Kisaka and others,” Lukwago heard telling friends at City Hall.
He was responding to the incident that happened last week when all KCCA top leadership including Buzeki, her deputy Kigenyi, KCCA senior Minister Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, her deputy minister Kabuye and other officials in the technical wing accepted the invitation of the flamboyant city businessman Hamis Kiggundu at his offices in Nakivubo in down town Kampala.
KCCA spokesperson Daniel Nuwabine confirmed the meeting explaining that the businessman invited the city top leadership to inspect the development he is doing downtown and to get advise on the development of Nakivubo stadium since he is preparing it to host African cup nations preparation games this year.
Nuwabine denied allegation that the businessman summoned them to his office to compromise them so that they don’t take action against him for violating city development laws including building in road reserves, tranches and on other business people’s land.
Businessman John Bosco Muwonge is currently in a bitter fight with Kiggundu who he accuses of building small shops in front of his Ham business centre building yet the land is part of Nakivubo trench where he (Muwonge) owns and has a land title to prove his ownership.
Sources in KCCA revealed to this website that Buzeki and group inspected the stadium, buildings and spent hours inside Kiggundu’s offices discussing a number of business ideas.
“I was not shocked, after the meeting, I learnt that the complaint which KCCA was planning to file in court against Kiggundu for violating city development laws and building on Nakivubo trench was abandoned without explanation from Frank Rusa the head of legal in KCCA,” a source told this website.
However, Nuwabine said the Rusa will explain in writing to KCCA council as to why they have abandoned legal action against Kiggundu insisting that there was no compromise or taking bribes.
Sources at KCCA told this investigative website that Lukwago is panicking because he thinks that Minister Kabuye and Kiggundu are strategizing his downfall as Kampala Lord mayor come 2026.
