Kampala Lord Mayor Ssalongo Ronald Balimwezo has blasted and warned Doreen Nyanjura the former deputy Lord Mayor with immediate effect to stop provoking and undermining him and his deputy Faridah Nakabugo.
A furious Balimwezo said that after winning the 2026 elections, he decided not to comment or respond to provocative statements that the former political leaders at City Hall were making against his leadership.
However, Balimwezxo says that Nyanjura provoked him that is why he has decided to move out and protect his people.
“I don’t want to respond to those people (Lukwago group) even though they are trying to provoke me, but Nyanjura has crossed the barriers and should know that she is not as special as she thinks. She did nothing at City Hall and left no record here by which she can be remembered. She should leave us to work for our people who rejected them and voted for us” Balimwezo said
The development comes after Nyanjura congratulated all the executive members appointed by Balimwezo with a note that she was not happy that Nakabugo replaced her. She instead wished Dr Shamim Nambassa to be the deputy Lord Mayor.
She further threatened to reveal Nakabugo’s dirty dealings at City Hall, “As for the newly appointed Deputy Lord Mayor of Kampala, I have no comment for now,” she stated on her X handle.
Balimwezo claimed that Nyanjura and other people have been undermining him and Nakabugo claiming that they are not fluent in the English language.
He explained that he is a highly trained engineer, an old boy of Busoga College Mwiri, a former Nakawa Division mayor and former Member of Parliament.
He boasted that he is more exposed and experienced than Nyanjura and group and assured her that Nakabugo is going to perform far better than she did at City Hall.
Balimwezo also confirmed that there is Whitcraft at City Hall that is the reason why when he was swearing-in, he came with a pastor to pray for him, his office, the chair he is going to use during his tenure and the official ceremony dresses.
He denied participating in the purchasing of the new official chair for the Lord Mayor and explained that the decision mighty may have been made by the former KCCA political leaders to retire the said chair which has served more than fifty years
For the ten years Nakabugo has been at city hall, she has been in fights with Lukwago with each accussing the other of being corrupt.
Nakabugo is accused of leading other KCCA councilors under the leadership of former council speaker who is currently the Makindye West MP Zahara Luyirika of giving away Nakivubo drainage channel to businessman Hamis Kiggundu with further allegations that the money that exchanged hands as a result of that deal played a fundamental role in facilitating National Unity Platform (NUP) political campaigns in the recent concluded 2026 general elections.
