Ono Bwino can exclusively report that Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Directorate of Physical Planning has place the Administrators of the Estate of the late city tycoon Muhammad Katimbo that their multibillion building situated in Kisenyi Kampala Central Division is going to be demolished.

According to sources, the demolition was expected to be carried out on Friday after KCCA established that the developer diverted from the plan which was issued by Physical Planning experts when he encroached on the road but the demolition was postponed because it was a public holiday (Labour day) and executing it would be illegal so they decided to do it either on Monday or Tuesday next week.

The city’s physical planning decision resulted from a complaint filed by another city tycoon Festo Kasajja and others in Kisenyi who alleged that the administrators of the estate of Hajji Katimbo led by Hakim Kasirye Katimbo abused the plan issued by KCCA which was supposed to guild them when they were building.

“Before encroaching on the public road, vehicles carrying goods in the area were moving freely but when they blocked the road, it badly affected the traders because they now offload their products from the main road and uses bodabodas and people to carry them to their shops which is costly,” Hakim Bukenya one of the traders in the area said.

Ono Bwino has established that for years, before Katimbo who was a powerful businessman in Kampala’s central business district Kikubo’s death in 2023, he was battling with Kasajja over land boundaries with each one accusing the other of encroaching on his land.

The development comes as estate administrators struggle with city law firm of Mugisha, Namutale & Co Advocates who are claiming that they are demanding the estate more than Shs1.5bn resulting from a land lawsuit where they represented the deceased and won.

However, the administrators of the estate through their lawyers of Olympia Advocates led by Commercial law giant Derrick Bazekuketa insist that there is overwhelming evidence that the deceased paid all his legal fees.
