This mighty investigative website can exclusive report that the Principal Secretary in charge of Uganda in the German foreign affairs office has written an advisory note to Johann Wadephul, the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany to beef up the security of Mathias Schauer, German’s ambassador to Uganda and other top staff at their embassy in Kampala.
Highly placed sources at the German embassy have revealed to this website that the advisory note resulted from the frequent threats Schauer was receiving from top Ugandan military bosses including the Chief of Défense Forces (CDF) and also the Senior Presidential advisor in charge of special operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Col Chris Magezi the UPDF Acting spokesperson.
Sources said that the advisory note also cited the ongoing mobilization by members of Gen Muhoozi’s Civic organisation the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) who were threatening to storm the German embassy and demonstrate against the person of Schauer whom they accuse of personally undermining the person of their supreme leader Gen Muhoozi.
Gen Muhoozi also used his alleged social media handle on X to express his anger towards the person of Schauer and wondered why the Germany government of all people including tall men like Bahima who drink milk decided to post a short and small Schauer in Uganda. He accused him of involving himself in sabotaging the country’s security.
Muhoozi and his supporters’ disagreement with Schauer was fueled by a meeting that President Museveni’s young brother and also chief advisor Gen Salim Saleh held with members representing the European Union countries in Uganda in Gulu city where Schauer was very furious over Muhoozi’s behaviour.
He told Muhoozi’s uncle Gen. Saleh that the CDF’s acts of issuing threatening tweets of killing, kidnapping opposition leaders and their supporters were damaging the country’s image internationally.
He pleaded with Gen Saleh to take action against him.
After the meeting, when details from the meeting started flying over in the media, Muhoozi issued frequent tweets which were later supported by a public statement issued by Col Magezi.
Col. Magezi announced that Uganda had suspended security cooperation with Germany which shocked many international relations scholars who wondered why the announcement was not issued through Uganda’s foreign affairs ministry.
However, Gen Muhoozi through his alleged X handle publicly announced that he has stopped mentioning any Muzungu’s name and apologised to his great uncle Gen Saleh.
This website has established that the decision resulted from the intervention of the foreign affairs ministry after learning that the German government was very bitter with the events in Uganda.
They alleged that their ambassador was being harassed.
Sources said that the German embassy in Uganda has increased the security of their ambassador and at the premises of their embassy.
They are scared of Muhoozi’s people attacking them.
This website has established that the German foreign affairs ministry has issued a protest note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uganda and they are demanding for evidence to support all allegations placed on their man.
However, an official in the ministry of foreign affairs told this website that the German ambassador is also responsible for what he is going through now because he decided with others in the European union to go and meet Gen Saleh without the presence of an official from the ministry of foreign affairs who would have guided on how the meeting should be handled.
But Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda insisted that the reason why the ambassadors decided to meet Gen Saleh without informing foreign affairs ministry is because they know very well that they can do nothing even if they inform them but Gen Saleh can act once they raise their grievances to him.
In his letter, Col. Magezi accused Schauer of supporting illegal elements against President Museveni’s government. He warned him that security is closely following him together with members of the leading opposition political party the National Unity Platform (NUP).
This website understands that Col Magezi is in trouble and he might be sanctioned by the German government and members of the European Union for harassing their ambassador without evidence.
The burden of proof is now with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to defend him.
NUP’s deputy secretary general and also Butambala county legislator Hajjat Aisha Kabanda said that she was not shocked seeing Schauer placing Gen Muhoozi on the wall.
She disclosed that when their leaders met with the ambassadors of the European Union, the same person quizzed their President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) concerning his planned actions of fuelling violence in the coming elections.
Sources said that Schauer warned Bobi Wine and NUP leaders that fueling violence will lead them straight into the court of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face crimes against humanity as it was for former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto after their actions in the 2007 Kenyan riots where hundreds of people were killed and many wounded.
Sources said that Bobi Wine assured the European Union ambassadors that he is ready for a ceasefire as long as Gen Muhoozi also stops threatening him, abducting his supporters and persecuting them.
This is the reason why they decided to talk to Gen Saleh knowing very well that he is the only person who can tame Gen Muhoozi.
Gen Saleh apologised on behalf of Gen Muhoozi and reminded Schauer of the strong partnership between Germany and Uganda.
Officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that the situation between Germany and Uganda is under control and that mistakes between Muhoozi and his people against Scheuer are regrettable.
