Maverick city lawyer Male Mabirizi has sent a strong message to his elder brother pastor Solomon Moses Male, journalist Kharid Kintu of Radio Simba that God will answer their prayers in negative boasting that he will not come out of Murchison Bay Luzira prison gates alive not dead as they wish.
Dressed in a short sleeved yellow prison shirt and short yellow prison trouser, Mabirizi narrated to this reporter that he is overwhelmed with love and encouragement he has received from people visiting him.
Wearing his usual smile, Mabarizi said that people visiting him looked shocked after narrating to him how his blood brother pastor Male and journalist Kharid through their YouTube channel are celebrating his imprisonment and praising his tormentors the Chief Justice Dr Flavian Zeija and Court of Appeal judge Musa Ssekaana, and pleading with them not to allow any judicial officer to release him.
“The other time I survived and did not die in prison, I believe even this time, I will not die from here as pastor Male and Kharid are scaring my people. People here are very supportive, welcoming and cooperative, that’s why I’m not malnourished as you Baker Batte wrote the other time when Ssekaana imprisoned me for eighteen months,” a smiling Mabirizi said.
He said that his imprisonment helped him to understand how people appreciate what he does for the country in the fight for the Rule of Law.
He noted that the legal fraternity including lawyers working for the government are visiting him, sending money to help him in prison and encouraging messages.
“Elison Karuhanga, Anthony Asiimwe, Toko and other comrades, please let them know that I’m appreciating all your efforts,” Mabirizi said.
Mabirizi narrated to this reporter that his day in prison starts at 6am when they are woken up by ward leaders so that they are counted while other inmates prepare for their day especially those going to court.
He added that if no mistake is made in counting, he moves out of his Block C, Ward 3, at 7:30am and starts doing physical exercises after which he goes and takes a bath, dresses up in his clean yellow prison uniform.
“By the time I finish my breakfast, people are already at the door of my ward seeking permission from the ward leader who is also a friend of mine because we were together in Upper prison when Ssekaana imprisoned me. The ward has to be cleaned, so I was advised to meet them outside in a tree shelter. From there, they keep me busy by asking advice from me on how to deal with their legal problems and how to deal with life in prison,” Mabirizi said.
He said that through interaction with inmates, he discovered that the judiciary still has a lot of work to do noting that people are on remand for more than ten years while others told him that their case files went missing and they were told by judicial officers that they will be called when their case files are found.
He disclosed that even though he trusted inmates and prisons officers, he is not eating food and other eats prepared inside prison revealing that he survives on biscuits, water, fruits especially oranges, mangoes, milk and other eats which friends who visit him bring him.
The environment this reporter found in prison showed that Mabirizi is a special inmate and he is given enough time in the office of the Officer in charge of the prison to talk to his visitors without interruption.
Mabirizi boasted that he is still strong and this time he is happy that his complainants are known and he is preparing himself to face them in the dock while testifying against him when the trial kicks off.
He noted that his frequent imprisonment and threats on his life will not force him to join his comrades the Uganda Law Society president Isaac Ssemakadde and Supreme Court Judge Esther Kitimbo Kisakye in exile insisting that he is still here and will die in Uganda.
Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Rita Kidasa Wanyama who is presiding over Mabirizi’s criminal charges related to hate speech and defamation against the person of the Chief Justice Dr Flavian Zeija and Court of Appeal Judge Musa Ssekaana promised to handle the accused person’s bail application on 18th February, 2026 the day he returns to court.
A team of his lawyers led by Uganda Law Society vice president Anthony Asiimwe, Nasser Kibazo, Yasin Ssentumbwe and others told Ono Bwino that they have filed all the necessary documents which are going to support Mabirizi’s bail application.
However, this website understands that police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are processing other criminal files including a complaint made by Lino Anguzu the Director of Public Prosecution where they allege that Mabirizi forged a signature of one of the junior lawyers in town and filed court documents defending capital offenders who were facing a criminal trial at the Crimes War Division of the High Court.
