Both Justice and Constitutional affairs Minister Norbert Mao and flamboyant city lawyer Fred Mukasa Mbidde are praising the security forces especially police for saving the bloodshed and chaotic environment which was aimed at disrupting their concluded Democratic Party (DP) Delegates Conference held in Mbarara city.
Mbidde accused Bukoto Central legislator Richard Ssebamala of being the master planner of the chaos after realizing that he was not going to be on the ballot paper to contest for the position of DP president general.
They accuse him of resorting to using violence to disrupt the elections and make sure that it doesn’t take place as planned.
However, insiders revealed to this website that Mbidde and Mao are not only praising security for helping them to shield their victory where Mao was voted as the president general and Mbidde as the national vice president, they also saved their wives who escorted them to Mbarara to moral boast and also witness their victory.
Mao’s wife Beatrice Kayanja Mao and Mbidde’s wife Fiona Nayebare were among the dignitaries on the podium as the party electoral commission boss Kennedy Mutenyu invited candidates contesting for different party offices to start addressing the delegates and ask for votes.
The chaos erupted and fighting kicked off with Ssebamala’s supporters and other party members questioning why they are not on the ballot paper.
Mutenyu accused Mukono South legislator Fred Kayondo who was badly beaten of leading angry delegates to attack and injure Mao, Mbidde, their wives and other dignitaries
Witnesses claimed that when Mao’s chief bodyguard Zzimbe saw Kayondo and group approaching his principal, he commanded his boys to act as ordered earlier. Kayondo was badly beaten and his head got injuries as others were shielding and saving their wives.
Witnesses said that the wives of Mao and Mbidde were scared and they decided to hide inside Asamar hotel rooms where their husbands always checked on them to establish if they were still in the mood.
They moved out on Monday evening when the situation was under control of security and after their husbands had already been declared winners to witness their swearing in as the newly elected leaders.
Sources close to Mao claim that he assured his wife that one day she will be the first lady of this country and it is the reason why she abandoned the longtime father of her children in the United Kingdom to join the man who promed her a bright future rather than suffering in London coldness.
Sources added that Beatrice was very instrumental in influencing Mao to accept Museveni’s deal to work together in the NRM government and they have started ploting to front her as DP candidate for Kampala Lord Mayor seat come 2026 elections and her campaign posters are already being pinned around the city.
Mbidde has also already declared that he is going to fight to replace Mao as the next DP president.
He has also started lobbying to be included in President Museveni’s coming cabinet once he wins the 2026 presidential elections.
Witnesses claim that in the scuffle to save Beatrice and Mbidde’s wife, Mutenyu was also badly beaten and he collapsed and he was rushed to a nearby medical centre.
He however denied the allegation when this website asked him about the collapsing incident.
He explained that he was just tired and was also fighting to save his power after realising that there was a group of delegates led by Ssempebwa Kigonya who wanted to execute a coup against him and appoint their own electoral commission chairperson to preside over the election of the new party leadership.
“I survived a coup my friend, I was stirred by a phone call informing me that there were ongoing elections of new leaders which was not sanctioned by me. I rushed and found a man dressed in an attire adorned with green colour which resembles mine as the chairperson of the party’s electoral commission, I immediately summoned security to save me,” Mutenyu narrated.
He added that he has been a target since he announced the election process and he has been getting threatening messages warning him that he was going to be attacked and be killed because of his actions.
He divulged that he did not take the threats lightly and he is planning on taking legal action against a one Mulindwa who tried to kill him and injured him.
